  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My 2011 Genesis has developed its first problem in 6 years of ownership. Not bad at all! -- The Backup camera quit working and after searching this forum, I found that it is probably a loose connection in the Trunk Wiring. As suggested by a forum member, I slammed the trunk shut and the camera has started working again.

I would like to find the loose connection, and apply a more permanent fix. So, the question is: Is there a simple way to get at the backup camera and associated wiring in the trunk? It is not that obvious just looking at it.

Thanks..... Getting at the wires looks to be 'above my paygrade'. I'll probably keep slamming the trunk for a couple years until I get a 2019 Genesis.

I had that same issue. Went to the dealership and they told me $450 to replace it. I seen what the guy did to get the camera to start working and I've been good ever since. Instead of slamming the trunk, open it and tap the inside linen and it should come on with no problem. Haven't had a issue with the camera in months lol.

The trunk liner isn't that hard to get out. After that, just disconnect the connector for the camera, clean it with electrical contact cleaner, apply some dielectric grease and reconnect it.

That's what I did when having the same problem and it's been 2 years since I've had it malfunction.

Just an fyi from a guy who is all 5 thumbs when it come to diy: I got to the wiring and it's not htat difficult. Just have to remove the trunk cover. Once it's removed use the pictures provided in another post to find the wiring. I cleaned ALL the wiring connections and added a smidge of contact grease and the camera worked fine after that.

Any other tips for this? My backup camera no longer works whatsoever (I see the guidelines and the *warning* notice, but no camera feed).

I removed the trunk lining tonight, disconnected what I believe to be the camera connection, used contact cleaner on it and then dielectric grease... no go.

Does only one side of the camera connection unplug, or do both sides come out?

The same issue started yesterday camera is black and has no lines, the Only other issue one reverse light out. no idea if happen at the same time. 2015 sedan no parking assist. nav only.

I had an issue on hot days where the camera would malfunction. I removed the trunk lid liner to get access to the wiring. The most difficult part was the plastic trim at the latch. The release for it is at the top where you cannot see it. You can fold back the right side without removing it completely. The cable is run across the right side. Once exposed, I just massaged the cable at points where it was pinched tightly at the standoffs and all was good after that. Tight zip ties can ruin the signal.
