  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

No Genesis Yet!
I'm in the US, but I want to play around with the Canadian build site here: Trim - Genesis at Home

I've no knowledge of Candian postal codes, but I've tried entering ones I've found via Google with no success. Anyone know what I can put in there to get through?!

Try to google "toronto postal code list"

M5V 2K4 seems to work (leave the space)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Use my mom's...LOL. She is in Etobicoke...so the Mississauga Boutique will be set as the location (west side of Toronto).

So, I guess Genesis will soon be wondering about the flood of interest from the Toronto area. :)

I've done that plenty of times as I wait for any official news of the U.S. release!

One thing I've noticed is that for the 2.0t sport that sometimes only limited colors are available. Are all the colors (in particular, nurburg green) available for it?

No, all colours are available for it here in Canada. Only the 2.0T Advanced has a restricted colour mix, as well as Siberian Ice being Sport-exclusive (2.0T Sport and 3.3T Sport). Note again that this is for Canada - some options won't be offered in the U.S., like the Caramel Brown interior.

What?! I was planning on the Caramel Brown interior here in the US. What are your sources?

I have not heard about the brown interior not making it to the US, but I did read that both the Serengetti Brown and Nurburg Green exterior colors will not be available in the US. I believe I read that during the New York Auto Show coverage from a couple sources.

웹 페이지 제목 Canadian Genesis website.

I’ve been using A1A1A1. I think it’s Toronto not that it matters.

The Canadian site seems to have more options unlike the US that is more into packages.

On the website it lists the G70 Sport at $57,500 Canadian which converts to $43,395 US. Canada has a VAT tax, but don’t know if it’s built into the price or added at the end.

I believe any vehicle imported into the US has to meet all US safety regulations. Whether the Canadian models do or don’t I don’t know.

The Canadian G80 Sport lists for $62,000 Canadian which converts to $46,790 US. Someone mentioned Hyundai eats the different in these prices. IF so, they’re eating over $10,000 on the G80 Sport.

If you haven't discovered this yet, PD705 is of Hyundai/Genesis corporate, so I guess he knows!

Lies and slander ;)

You are misinterpreting what was said about exchange rates.

Do not compare US prices of Genesis in US dollars with Canadian prices of Genesis in Canadian dollars. The cars are made in Korea, and the US-Canada exchange rate is completely irrelevant, so don't try and compare the two.

The Canadian dollar has dropped in value over the last 5 years against the US dollar by more than 25%. The Korean Won has also fluctuated up and down against the US dollar (like all currencies).

What was said is that when a currency like the Canadian dollar drops against the Won (or the US dollar fluctuates against the Won), they don't adjust the car prices in the short term. They either eat the loss, or stash away the gain, depending on which way it moves. Or they buy currencies futures as a hedge on currency fluctuations.

Just wait and see what the US prices will be. There is no other way to figure it out until they announce them.

I believe the stinger US price was exactly the same as Canadian 52k and 52k which is what leads me to believe the 3.3 Awd loaded g70 will be 56k or above.

...and if so it would would be over my budget and back to the stinger if they resolve the few quality issues.

That all may be true, but if you trot up to Canada with whatever the price of a Genesis up there and have that amount in Canadian dollars, you're good to go. That said, there will be import duties and you'll be going naked re warrenties, as long as you can license it here in the States, you'll save thousands. End of story...

I'm not going to do or advise anyone to do it.

I also would not advise anyone to buy a car in Canada and then try and import it to the USA.

Likewise, unless you first do a lot of research. A few hurtles that come to mind. There are probably more.

1. Finding out any licensing restrictions in your state.
2. What the total importation taxes will be.
3. Understanding you're probably going "naked" re any warranty.
4. Understanding all the dashboard data will be metric.
5. Understanding you have a "gray" market vehicle that may be hard to sell or trade in later.
6. Practice saying "eh" when your neighbors ask how much you've saved.

About 18 years ago, I almost bought an Acura TL up in Vancouver, but the above questions convinced me to pass on it. I think at the time it would have saved me about $3,000.
