  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just got my plates. In the trunk there is a plate holder, but I see no holes in the front grill. I dont see any instructions on Google. Guessing as the car is so new.

Any install their front plates yet? How? Any after market options - for a 2024?

Hey man, definitely try to find a mount that goes to your tow point at the front of your car instead of the grille, it looks a lot better that way!

I did but seems tow hook mount not possible on the 2024

No front plate for me. I know it’s a risk (especially with the 15% tint I just put on) but I’m not ruining the look of the car. I ran a BMW 335i for a year with no front plate (Virginia) so hope to get lucky again.

No front plate for me either, and I've been doing that for over 40 years. Not only a plate ruins the look (especially on the G70), but it reduces cooling too, and I need that in hot TX. But if you're hell-bent on installing the factory bracket, you'd have to drill the bumper beam behind the grille. Use a flashlight, and you'd see the 2 dimples where you'd have to drill. And unless your '24 does not have a front tow hook anymore (my '23 does -F&R), you could absolutely use a tow-hook bracket... but you'd have to play with adjustment to avoid false parking sensor warnings. Hope this helps.

Yep, it’s the sensors that concern me. The 24 actually does have tow hook as I see the cover. But $100 for the tow bracket (the “platypus”) seems a lot. I’m in Calif. I have not looked up what the fine might be if get pulled over.

There are much cheaper ones than that, and with tons of adjustments (which you need). Just make sure the shaft has a built-in hex, so you can tighten it independent of the bracket itself, so don't buy a super cheap kit, where you'd need vise grips to remove the shaft. In my case, only the TX troopers harass me without a front plate, so I'm going to buy a bracket for each car, and maybe just install it when traveling in TX. Or at least carry the darn thing and slap it on if I get pulled over. Haven't been pulled over in a long time in the city, but they've never even mentioned the lack of plate here; it's just the freaking troopers.

Hello - have you installed one? And can you recommend one that does not cost $100? Thx

Here is RI, they will pull you over in 10 minutes without a front plate, and many central towns will harass with window tints as well. Your dealer should be able to install the factory bracket for you. No extra at least for me. Yes, it is a bummer.

Virginian also not running the front plate with tint. I'm a firm believer that if you give no reason to be pulled they will pay no attention to you.

I wish that was true for Texas State Troopers. I've never been bothered about no plate when pulled over locally, although it has been a while since the last time (fortunately. Ha ha). But the darn troopers with nothing better to do than harass motorists, have pulled me over numerous times just for the lack of plate. And I'm traveling in basically new vehicles with the family, and have perfect record (no tickets of any kind, no accidents, no arrests ever, nothing). I'm probably going to order a front tow-hook bracket, when I travel in TX. No tickets so far, but super annoying to waste 1/2-hr, because the guys had nothing better to do. I try to avoid passing them, but when they're doing like 60 (vs 80), if too far away from a town, I take the risk, but typically wait for somebody to pass me first, so I can tag close to them, and hopefully avoid them seeing I have no plate. Ha ha. But rather face that, than drilling my freaking bumper, ruin the car looks, affect cooling, and being able to get tagged by radar 2 miles away:p. The tow-hook bracket is a good compromise, and I could install it on the spot if needed. Just would have to turn the parking sensors off, I'm sure.

The fine is about $180. Worth it.
