If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. I'm happy that my newly-acquired '09 Genesis has clear headlight lenses that appear to be un-restored, judging from the lack of swirl marks. I want to keep them that way, and avoid a big bill for replacement down the road. After browsing around the internet , Ive come across both films such as this http://www.weathertech.com/lampgard/
and liquids like this

It also seems that one could just use regular car wax on the headlight lenses.

I'd appreciate any suggestions members might have.

Meguiar's makes a Headlight Protectant, that is basically a car wax specially formulated for plastic with some extra UV protection.

If you have a hard time removing the residue when it dries, try using a damp cloth. After you use it the first time, subsequent applications are easier.

A proper restoration leaves no swirl marks and looks like new when done.
IMHO films are not the thing to use, if you store the car inside they should last for years with simple waxing.
For minor hazing use PlastX rub on like a polishing compound then buff out.
For heavier hazing use wet sand paper 800 then 1500 then 2000 then finish with PlastX.
If you never want to do it again spray with clearcoat spray paint and wax just like the car.

Mine are clear also. I have always waxed the lens about every month after a wash. Purchased my 2011 in Sept. 2010.

here is one for you, i have stains on the INSIDE of the lenses and small bug in one. HOW do I clear that????

Buy a product called "PLEXUS" in an aerosol can. Honda motorcycle shops carry it. It can also be found on amazon. It is amazing stuff. A little pricey (about $22 for a 13 oz can). It will last for years. Motorcycles with windshields use it to keep it clear and the bug come off real easy. Have been using on cars and motorcycles for about 12 years.

I have found klasse (silver) to be very effective, 3 coats on each once a year, done. I use Klasse due to its UV protection, this can help prevent yellowing.

If the lens hasn't been sufficiently damaged, consider a 3M or XPEL protectant film.

+1 on xpel actually, the xpel store in austin did my brothers scoobie and it's PERFECT, yeah, expensive, but you get what you pay for

I've had Xpel on my last three cars (including my current Genesis). Not only shields the lens from atmospheric fallout and oxidation, but also against flying debris.

My Genesis lenses are acceptable for now. But, in the future I will be wets an ding and polishing my lenses. Done properly will leave no swirl marks and will be as clear as glass. I've done several cars over the years and they come out great everytime. You need to remove the factory clear coat from the lenses to make them permanently easy to maintain.
