  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I can't figure out how to release the rear panel of the front seat from the retainer. The online service manual only states to remove the panel with no explanation of how to release the retaining clips. I am in the process of adding additional foam to the passenger seat, that is if I can ever get the panel off.

from the shop manual...

That's the same drawing in the online manual. Step 3 - Remove the seat back panel B. (With no explanation of how to remove the panel) The panel appears to hook in at the bottom with two retainers at the top of the panel. I can't figure out how to release the retainers at the top of the panel. I can see what appears to be a wire sticking out of the retainer but my efforts to push, pull and/or move this wire around has not released the back. Maybe there is some simple way to pop the panel off, but so far it has eluded me.

fbrown -- I am attempting to do the same thing with my drivers seat. Let me know if you find out how to remove the plastic panel from the drivers seat back. I posted this question on the forum Nov 7th, and previously. Regards and thanks .... Dan

This should help. http://www.headrestvideo.com/sbgenesis.pdf

I have taken mine off and it is not so easy. For the right side of back while sitting in the rear push the plastic back hard to the left then pull. The clips are counter intuitive. After the two clips are disconnected at top it just lifts up and away. I have taken mine off and it is not so easy. homeofstone ---- OK, 'Houston, Apollo has landed'

Finally after a few months, homeofstone has the information on how to remove the seat back plastic cover. Thank you much for this detailed and somewhat elusive & tricky, but proper way to remove the seatback plastic cover. Regards, and Happy Thanks Giving to you. Dan

how do you put it back on, or maybe my clips are broken and that's why it won't reattach; any photos would be helpful

My 2015 G80 just came apart by itself and I do not see a clip so I guess it was glued. I do not see glue. I park in direct sunlight most days.
