  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2010 Genesis 4.6L and I want to keep my B pillars shiny black and protected. I've neglected my car over the winter and it hurt my soul. I did some minor work on it today and realized how filthy it was. Took it to the local coin-op then took it to the shade to dry it off...... oh lordy, I got more dirt off by drying than the coin-op did with the high (?) powered spray/soap etc.
Anyway, I wanted the rubber along the doors where it meets the windows and the B pillars to look like new. I tried two coats of Mothers Back to Black and had a little success but not what I was wanting.
So, what do you guys suggest. Somebody said use brake fluid??? Or was it brake cleaner???
Anywho..... what do y'all think?

I use mothers Back to Black but if has been a long time since you last used it a few generous coats need to be applied. As for the brake fluid or cleaner I won't be the guinea pig for that. Brake fluid typically destroys your paint so I can't imagine it would do any good on the B-Pillars.

Curious to know what other products people are using and how they compare Back to Black.

+1

I use 303 aerospace wipes. They work great for the interior, and rather than throw them out, I use on all the exterior trim, gaskets, door sills, windshield surrounds, and engine bay covers. I love the stuff.

I'll go to my nearby NAPA dealer and get some 303 on Tuesday.
Will it keep my B pillars nice and shiny??

How about vinyl wrap? it could be a better idea?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
best way is to wax them if there painted and that's it. If to much damage the only way to fix them is to repaint then at a shop or if your handy paint them yourself. Don't go to ebay for those pillar post covers (they are absolute junk) Ive been there ok. good luck
I was thinking this was a joke...brake fluid!!!

The 303 does not make it real shiny, no. It just makes the pillars darker, with a matte to semi-gloss look. For my taste, I like the results.

Be nice to see before and after shots of the B-Pillars cleaned with different products. I'll post mine next time I wash the car, which will probably be this weekend because my car is yellow from all this NC pollen!! Driving home the other day you could see a yellow haze in the air.

How about vinyl wrap? it could be a better idea?
I know some users have vinyl wrapped the bumper inserts and other parts but not sure about the pillars. They would still have to be cleaned though.
