If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My new 3.8 Genesis had several items in the trunk when I received it: wheel locks, first aid kit, and a rectangular black nylon bag containing what looks like a black volleyball net. I assume this is a "cargo net". The "net" seems too short to stretch the entire width of the trunk.

Does anyone know how this "net" is used?

Same here.. ???

There are four loops inside the trunk [2 by the near wall and 1 each on the right and left sides]. The hooks on the net are supposed to go in there to secure it and then you put your items underneath.

I have used it on only one occasion but have found that the hooks for the bags has been sufficient enough.

HTH.

...and if you need it to contain your items a little bit more you can take the loops from the front, fold the net double and hook all four loops them in the rear, creating an "envelope" for your items that will contain them a little bit better. Each method has it's benefits and weaknesses. I usually leave mine flat - hooked in all four locations.

IMHO the net setup sucks. The fold down bag holder is really great though.

This is what I did on my previous Genny's, but the 2015 doesn't seem to have the hooks to hold the top loops of the 'envelope'. Am I missing something?

Two loops on each hook nearest the trunk opening will form the envelope which will then lay flat on the floor folded double.

OK, I guess I misunderstood the 'envelope' term.
On my 2009/2012 you could use the net flat on the floor, or hang it vertically at the back of the trunk to form a 'basket' to hold small items from flying around.

I wonder if they make something like this for the Genesis...

Here's another option..

I use this all the time with moderate to large sized bags of gear, works really well. Recently I switched to putting things in a large couple pop-up containers up against the back of the rear seat. The fronts of the containers can then be held in by the closest section of the net, leaving cargo space for as-needed storage under or on top of the rest of the net.

What I'd really like is to have one of those Canadian all weather trunk mats, the double sided + hinged rubber ones. Too bad we can't get them here in the states!

I use the cargo net all the time. It keeps things from flying around in the trunk. I also bought a small net on eBay for $9 that attaches anywhere in the trunk by using the hook portion of a velco fastener. It sticks right to the lining of the trunk. You can mount it anywhere in the trunk and move it if you want. I have mine on the side and use it to store gloves, flashlight, small tool kit, etc. Photo attached.

Very nice but, damn, I hate making China richer.

Then you better stop shopping because 95% of everything you buy with the exception of food if not made in China, sources parts from China or gets raw materials from them to be then called made in (choose your country). Everything would cost 10 times as much if it were entirely made and sourced in North America as everyone here thinks they are worth $100/hour and wants at least 2 months vacation not to mention health care and and and. ;)

Eureka! I finally figured out how to use this in an envelope configuration (at least, I think so... it seems right anyway). I was not at all impressed with the default flat installation. I bought mine from eBay, so maybe it's just stretched out, but using it in the flat position seems like it won't hold small items well - it's much looser than it appears in the photo. I really miss the vertical envelope mounting style I had with the Azera. Anyway, I saw references to a trunk floor envelope mount, and just couldn't quite wrap my head around it until... I did...
