  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well, winter's here and I've finally gotten to try out the AWD feature of the 2g Genny a few times and I gotta say I think it works pretty well. Still haven't had to face anything over an inch or two, but what there has been has had an awful lot of ice under it and the HTRAC system has really paid for itself by providing much greater control. I'm happy. :)

I am quite happy with snow mode and Blizzaks. Works great even with RWD.

Very happy with the AWD on the 5.0. Caught in a snow storm this past Saturday.....everyone was moving at a snails pace on the Highway and the Genesis took it in stride. With the Gen Coupe, talk about white knuckle driving even with winters.

Will be getting my first real taste of it tomorrow. We are expecting about 4-7 inches (right now looks like about 2-3" on the ground). Can't wait! :)

I was like a child on Christmas morning today! I woke up early and saw about 8 inches of snow outside. Got ready and pulled the car out into the snow, using snow mode of course :D

I'm pleased to report the HTRAC plowed through anything in its way! I'm using the stock Hankooks...no winter tires. Last year, with my 2013 Lexus GS F Sport RWD, I would NEVER have been able to even leave the garage.

It's snowing by me and we have a dusting so far but the car tracks well and has plenty of traction. Loving it!!!

I've also learned that the headlight washers actually work - I walked past the car this morning and there was a clean area on each of the headlights where the washers hit them.

Anyone know why my 3.8 htrac doesnt show me snow mode as one of the options? How do i change the setting?

Just hold the mode select button and it will pop up after a few seconds.;)

For what it's worth, I found snow mode to be useless for the htrac. I could see it being useful for RWD with stock tires where traction is lacking. With htrac, I find myself turning off traction control every time I turn on the car. Otherwise, engine power is cut every time I slip a tire.

Could not agree more. I actually found it dangerous to use, simply cuts the power completely as if someone turned the ignition off for what seems like forever. Useless as mud-flaps on a tortoise.

The optional 19" tires on the 5.0 are summer only and you risk crashing if driving on them in the winter months. I have Bridgestone Blizzaks installed and have utilized snow mode on occasion.

The OEM Hankook's are actually a Ultra High Performance All-Season tire and actually get pretty fair reviews on winter performance. They are not a winter tire and will never get the traction of dedicated snows, but they appear to be not as bad as traditional summer tires.

Ultra high performance all season used to describe a tire is new to me. I have only read ultra high performance is used to describe a summer only tire.

Ultra High Performance All-Season Tires
You want all-season versatility (including light snow traction) and are willing to trade some dry and wet traction and handling to get it.

Branded with the M+S symbol, these ultra low profile tires are designed to provide year-round traction (even in light snow) through tread designs and compounds that remain more flexible in the cold weather to help blend all-season traction with very good handling and high-speed capabilities.
