  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

HUD on the R-Spec?

^ I see.... It is times like these, I am reminded why I do not bother to post or share much on forums, frankly it more effort than it is worth to deal with the 'jokers club'...

But in this particular case, I was rather hoping to generate sufficient interest with people who share the same way of thinking, so we can collectively get some 'real' drive train data, to better understand why some models exhibit certain behaviors, for example, why does the engine hesitates while accelerating during a left turn!?

Or does cold intake makes any difference in HP readings? and if so, at what ambient temperature?

So if the subject does not interest you, please in the future, feel free to skip this thread all together...
You need to post your ideas ... look at all the folks who like your idea and more so for sharing your idea ... ignore the other folks. Thanks again for your post.

Hooked mine up today. Not sure how accurate it is but it sure looks cool for $25. Looks great on an iPad.

Splendid show! it is fun to play, isn't it?

To answer your question at a high level, it depends on several factors that I have examined thus far:

1 - 2009-2011 (Pre) vs 2012-2014 (Post)?
2 - What iPad/iPhone device you are using?
3 - Did you create a vehicle profile as described in my earlier post?
4 - Something else that I may not have considered as of yet.

There is some latency with the data updates, due 1&2 factors taken into account as well as the use of wireless technology.

The vehicle profile (3) is critical to getting a reasonable calculated drive train HP / Torque data (+/-5-15% in the case of Post MCE, 10-20% Pre) . almost everything else is a direct feed.

How do I know this? because I already compared the collected data to more accurate means of measurement (which will be discussed as part of phase three of the mod sometime in the future ;))

What is more important than the cool factor, is the raw data that you now have access to , for example, if one enables logging and go for an early morning ride while the car is it cold , then do the same run while car in mid afternoon there is some level of variation in the numbers, of course to verify, one would need to do the same thing for at least 5 times for each run and use the average.

In my testing, I did indeed find evidence that a cold engine does produce slightly higher (derived) HP than mid afternoon drive (using three different tools), this would suggest that a cold air intake would make a slight but measurable deference in performance, which in my opinion, is more important than how close or accurate the derived HP/torque numbers to an actual Dyno run :p.

It would be wonderful to examine 'debug' data from others, but I am not sure there is sufficient momentum at this stage, plus the needed free time for us to play [EDIT] to enable us to have a proper propellerhead discussion surrounding the subject...

Thats pretty awesome ... thanks for posting it. Good man.

drpearso, you mentioned, "My 2013 Rspec has the gas pedal go dead when pulling out in traffic" in another part of the forum.

This may be an excellent opportunity to examine what is actually going on with your R-Spec by using this mod, as I have not experienced the issue at all!?

Can you describe the exact scenario when you experience the dead pedal issue? please include as much detail as you can, so I can try to recreate the issue while logging the raw OBDII data.

One thing I would suggest trying, is removing the master power fuse (or the battery terminal) and leave it over night, to see if that reset the ECU, which may have an impact or even resolve your issue altogether, especially if you had more than 100 miles on the odometer when you purchased your R-Spec.

I would like more info on any thing new for th 5.0 rspec. Also looking for a super charger if you anyone.
thanks

Ordered one last week for my birthday, I am hopeful that will deliver on its promises ad does not end up as another failed project....

It should be here sometime in January, will post an update once installed...

I would very much appreciate a report on how it works. I have had some problems plugging aftermarket devices into the diagnostics port on cars.

Sometimes they don't work and even caused some problems.

Thank you.
