  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So with the long weekend I decided to dip my wheels. Wanted something darker and decided to go with the new "Hyper Black". Just wanted to share the pics and not want to start a debate on Plasti Dip. Thoughts on the color?

It looks like gunmetal. It came out great. Do you have any before pictures?

I've never heard od "dipping" wheels; can you explain the process including what type of prep work required?

Thanks!

Awesome. Nice job! I've always been partial to darker wheels as opposed to chrome.

Looks great.

Love the color, that was my other choice if black didn't work. Looks nicely done too!

Yes I agree it is more of a gunmetal. Just heard back from DipYourCar and the "hyper black" is more of a graphite color than a black. They recommended getting the top coat with the black betty mixed in. That will be my next project. Attached are the before (OEM) pic of my wheels.

Thanks. I was actually hoping it would have been more of a black but this came out really well. Their new "hyper" line covers very well and the right amount of gloss. Helped my 22 year old son do this but he is the real artist. 5 years practice on all of my other cars makes perfect.

Looks great either way but with the dark color paint - the wheels do look better dark as well. If I were you, now that the wheels came out so good, I'd probably want to do the same to the chrome trim around the windows...

Looks good. May have to look into doing my rims on mine. I'd like a rim that is closer in color as the car.

Love the wheels!

On an unrelated topic, can you tell me more about your trunk spoiler? Which one is it? Regrets? Install? I want to get one but there's so many variations and I can't ascertain which one(s) are better or worse.

Thanks!

Tony

Thanks.

I really wanted to go with a more higher lip like on the new BMW M4's, M5's, and M3's. The spoiler came painted to match and fit the trunk perfectly. It was a very nice fit and great quality. I know another guy on the forum decided to go with more of a small lip spoiler but this was exactly what I wanted. Install was about 10 minutes with cleaning and alignment. Very easy.

This is the one I got.

Great wheel color, makes the car look even better. I would love to do something similar, including the chrome trim on the windows. Audi has a black optic package on the A6 (for $750, including wheels) that I would like to have had on an A6.

This looks sharp!

Look very similar to mine. Did them last fall in a very light metal flake charcoal and clear coat over the top. Liked them so much did the summer wheels the same. http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=17221&highlight=charcoal

If you want some high quality black locking lug nuts to go with them, theses are an exact fit. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/161600324592...49.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&rmvSB=true See original thread here. http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=17515&highlight=charcoal
