  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai Equus Owners - What don't you like about the car?

What I don't like is waiting for the 2014 MY to get to the dealers!
Kidding, I think they'll be there sometime this month.
Already ordered a brown one after 5 consecutive black cars. Either I'm getting boring in my old age, or smarter in color choices for a car that bakes at the train station for 11 hours a day.
It must be the latter.
:p
Are they offering any "Deals" on the 2014?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Are they offering any "Deals" on the 2014?

Depends I guess. My last 5 cars are from my dealer so I'll get a great deal. Somebody off the street may not get as good of one.
One deal available to all (pretty sure it's a Hyundai program):
Early out of leases, up to 6 months, just turn it in without paying for the remaining months if you're getting a new Hyundai.
Works for me.

That's awesome! Im super happy for you! I plan on getting an Ultimate Model in Night Shadow Brown with either Ivory or Saddle. A couple questions for ya...
1. Are dealers able to order these currently with specs/color combos?
2. Is there a date on when it will be released or arrive in showrooms?

Thank you so much for your help!

No, dealers take what's delivered. What they can do is request a certain color from distribution. That's what mine did.
No date announced yet, but the CEO is quoted as saying "this month". My dealer said that too.
Btw, I'm told the Ultimate accounts for only 5% of Equus sales. You're in an exclusive club!

Haven't heard anything on the 2014's yet. Just bought a 2013 Signature for $12,000 under MSRP ($50K if that helps).

There's plenty of info out on the 2014 from the NY Auto Show held in March. Including pics.
But how is a sticker of $60K not $48K with $12K under MSRP?
Not challenging you, just confused.
Also, my dealer said the discounts were dramatic on the '13. You've confirmed it.

And are you loving it?

I've driven a BMW 7 car or a MB 500 for 20 years. I love the Equus, but these little over sites are an embarrassment.

Koreans don't get hot steering wheels? Reminds me of my first 7 car. A/C sucked. Germany said it was find. They flew in a BMW exec to Dallas in July. Picked up the car and drove to the dealership. Car never got under 80 degrees. Exec got the message, went back to Germany that night.

New A/C for all cars.

What don't you like about the Equus?

Back to the topic at hand:

Low fuel warning not loud enough
Bad seats
No padding on driver door to rest left knee against
Armrest has seam right where elbow rests - ow
Vinyl on glove box scuffs miserably, anyone got a fix for this?
Cheesy buttons/switches on dash
Can't see speedometer (neither can my wife or kids) wheel in the way
Odometer and trip smack dab in plain sight, but can't see speedometer

Needs lots of work to be world class

Taking into account tax, title and license fees, plus the 10K discount.

I'm so-so on the car so far. Lots to love, lots of little dislikes.

Pro's: smooth ride, powerful engine, vehicle looks - people stop and ask me what it is all the time, interior space, awesome factory radio, auto down/up windows on all windows, seats are great for a big person (6,5" and 230 lbs). Plushest floor mats I've ever seen.
Con's: Butter smooth paint scratches very easily. Lots of paint chips from small road debris all over the vehicle already, less than $5000 miles. I hate the reflection of the chrome speaker grills in the rear window due to reflection of the sun. The "ding" of the navigation system drive me crazy. Difficult to turn off navigation while in route to a destination, doors sometimes don't close well when the kids try to close them - auto close feature would help. No auto open/close on trunk is a disappointment. No folding rear seat is also a huge negative. I tried to get a new broom in the car the other day and it wouldn't fit. My dealer told me the car had remote auto start. It does not, or I can't figure it out. Radio/Nav screen sometimes isn't bright enough and gets washed out by sunlight. The center console needs the cup holders spaced just a little farther apart - two items don't sit well next to each other in the tight space. Also, the car needs a cubby of some kind in the center console (not counting the armrest area). I was thinking the ashtray area could be turned into a place holf things - my MP3 player has nowhere nice to sit other than occupy a cup holder area. The doors and dash area so any kind of brush mark. Very hard to keep clean.

I love everything about my Equus Signature. She's my third Hyundai after an EG350l, and two Genesis beauties. I would love for the Equus to include:

Bluetooth Audio (Cannot believe this isn't already available!)
Blind Spot Detection
Remote Start and other remote functions (via app)
Remote GPS map updates

Keep up the great work Hyundai! I'm an Equus lover now and still stay with the brand and model for years to come!

Hi Mike,

I agree that the passenger seat should have the same options as the driver's seat. That was one of the suggestions I made when Hyundai sent me the survey. Its the only seat in the car that doesnt have power lumber support.
I havent played around with the Jukebox much but recently I had a 2013 Genesis R-Spec loaner and it had the Dave Matthews Album downloaded to the Jukbox with song/album title and album cover art. I do wish the rear entertainment center came with wireless headphones.
The Heads-up display is adjustable. I am 6'0 and have no problems with seeing the speed, blind-spot detection or navigation instructions. Just scroll haptic wheel> setting mode> heads up display>height >use scroll wheel to adjust height :)

There are mp4 smartphone Apps available. I easily rip You Tube videos to my iPhone and stream the audio to my Genesis using the Total Downloader App. Free music!

By the way, I forgot to mention that the drivers door should power close when brought to the detent in the door. If yours isnt power shutting you may need to take it in to your dealer.

**Also the autoleveling HID headlights seem more "advanced" upon start up compared to my 2013 Ultimate. The 2013 HID self leveling check would just go up and down upon start up. My 2014 Ultimate HID lights go down, thinks for 3 seconds, move right to left and then level back up.. kinda cool to watch at night**

My daylight running light don't work!
My front parking aids always require manual turning on !
Don't like audio level of low fuel warning too low.!
Tires are too loud!
Time should show on nav screen
Clock is very hard to read at night (hands should be illuminated)
:welcome:

This is something small, I wish we could adjust the headlight delay longer that 15 seconds... Options should be 30,60 and 90 seconds....

for me only one. Passenger seat needs same adjustments as driver's seat.
