  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai Equus Owners - What don't you like about the car?

Why would you let your gas get low enough to signal the idiot light? Hard on the pump..

My daylight running light don't work!
1. My front parking aids always require manual turning on when pulling into a parking space but automatically come on when backing into a spot.!
2. The audio level of low fuel warning too low.!
3. Tires are too loud!
4. Time should show on nav screen
5. Clock is way too hard to read at night (hands should be illuminated)
6. Headlights don't move right and left
7. Foot rest needs to be adjustable.
8. No heat steering wheel.
9. No touch screen.
10. Voice recoginaion is poor, should at least be trainable.
:welcome:

GripperDon nice to have you back! Start a thread and give us the story of your return to Hyundai. If I remember correctly, you could not make yourself happy with the Genesis suspension and bought a Chrysler 300. Right? Good to have you return to our forums.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Two new grips to complain about now that I've had my 2013 Equus Signature for about 6 months. First, the home link buttons on the rear view mirror are not lighted. I feel like Helen Keller everytime I need to open my garage doors at night. Why is every other do dad lighted but not the buttons you use multiple times on a daily basis? Second, got the Hyundai Ipod cable and the Apple 30 pin to lightening adapter cable (Note: don't use the connector if you have a case as the pins aren't long enought to play and charge). Now my Ipod nano works great. However, what's the deal with the display reverting back to not showing the artist and song info each time the car restarts? You have to choose songs, then random, and then back out to see all the info each time. Not a very friendly user interface.

Thanks Vince ? As you may remember I had my cervical spine butchered on and if eliminated most of my neck disks and made me very sensitive to ride.

The Genesis was just too hard a ride even after all my mods so I got a 300c in 2011 it rattled so bad I tried a 2013 with special wheels, springs and was not supposed to rattle but it did so I got the 14 Equus not all is quite as just barely soft enough ride.

I do plan on different tires ( brand , profile ) later. I am hoping to get my drl working and high beams changed to silver stars ultras.

All thoughts no seat mods, tires, etc to further soften ride pleading solicited plus wiring diagrams, shop manual info, etc.

Thanks again for the welcome. Ps steaming off rear tint that is obscuring 3rd brake light.

My lease just ended on my 2012 Equus, overall a great car. Dislikes: crappy gas mileage, a disaster in snow and even some rain, burns through tires.

Marketing/Sales - Get you act together and get more of them on the road.
The "Equus Experience" is nothing more than a joke at the dealer level.
They don't have a clue how to treat the owners.
Equus Hot Line - Another joke - they listen, take notes and do nothing!

AMEN!!!! Sales/Service is a utter farce!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also....
Interior scathes every time you touch it to clean, even just dust, C'MON!!!
Seatbelt piller makes the car too narrow for broad folks when you put the front seats all the way back(6'4" - 275).
More total legroom.....no need to store 4 human bodies in the trunk, lol.
AWD......
More leather/metal/wood, less plastic/synthetic materials PLS!!!

Otherwise ALLOT of pro's

I think the biggest challenge is service as that's more difficult to improve on. At least apparently. The next generation of Equus is going to be a big improvement over the first generation but we're not likely to see any big improvements in human behavior. I really don't see what's so difficult about treating people well but to each his/her own...

Something to me new I was ignorant about.... Auto record on XM.. Any channels in memory selections will be recorded. I selected any of the channels and could rewind eac to listen to something I missed. Only runs when car is on. Too bad could not DVR request through the app while it is off. Have things recorded and ready for playback. Anyway, this has turned out to be a cool feature. After phone calls, or hopping between different talk like channels, can catch up on something missed or bypass commercials.

That's true, it was always the hassle to get service they promised it wouldn't be. I rarely got a Genesis as a loaner, every time I called I got lumped in with the regular service calls and then had to play phone tag with the service manager until they finally figured it out. They were good about taking care of the car once it got there though.

The low sales of Equus may create a skill problem, despite the high degree of commonality w/Genesis.

They should be focusing hard on getting better service to Genesis owners as there aren't enough Equus owners alone for service people to get used to treating customers who have higher expectations than Elantra drivers.

My 2014 Equus AC has been in the shop three times. The service manager says that there is nothing he can do to improve the performance of this vehicle AC;
I live in south Louisiana and the heat and humidity prevents this vehicle from cooling off after one hour of driving. The regional service manager drove the car and put a thermometer inside the vent. The AC temp out of the vent was 52 degrees. My wife drives a 2014 Infiniti Q60 and the AC freezes us. The vent temp is 42 degrees. The problem with the Equus AC is that it does not put out enough cold air to cool down the car. I open the windows, let the hot air out. Turn the seat AC and still the inside temp on the vehicle with two digital thermometers is 87 degrees. The thermostat is set at 64 degrees. The Regional service manager claims there is nothing wrong with this vehicle AC. If you like a cold AC and live in Texas, Louisiana or Fla. I do not recommend an Equus. You will be very disappointed with this vehicle air comfort. I have driven many cars and this is by far the worst AC out of all the manufacturers.

I have only had a great experience with the servicing of my 2011 Hyundai Equus. The A/C works well in my car. I highly recommend the Equus.

i saw your message and maybe they can do that, but I can tell you the equus service is not that great. Hyundai does not seem to be able to manage high end vehicles. I am glad that it's a lease. I have a year and three months to go and I'll be happy to give it back.

issues are resolved, but it reminds me of before I moved into luxury cars. They seem to be good at marketing this concierge service, but not so good at being able to do it.

usually takes 2-3 days to get anything done and then 2-3 days of them keeping my car. now that being said I have about 2,000 miles less on my lease than I would expect based on the number of days that I have been without my car.

I was sold well and I bought it. I don't hate the car, but there are things that require improvement that if I had free time I would take it in, but I have now had 4 different times where I have said call me once you get a car in so that they can work things and they never call me back.

It's fine, you get what you pay for I suppose.

This is my second Equus, first one was a 2011. Dealer changed the AC compressor to fix the low cooling issues. I turned that car in for a 2014 and they promised me that the AC issues had gone away, After one year and three long stays at the dealer my 2014 has the same issues. Dealer can't fix it and Hyundai does not want to make it right. The AC is inferior to the size of the room interior. So there it is.. If you like a good ride and a hot vehicle then go get an Equus.

I don't like the small fuel tank. Another 4 - 5 gallons would be more in line with what I had expected. Fuel economy has been a surprise. Oh yeah, my dealer experience has been AMAZING!

a few nit picks for me:

Why do these buttons turn off while driving or starting:
Seat chill settings
Parking radar
Shuffle mode on ipod

How come the nav doesnt return home to say...the ipod after a phone call - nope gotta make a few clicks while barreling down the road...

Driver seat could be a little more plush imo

Im enjoying the hell out of it - but the loss of parking radar is QQ

Overall love the vehicle. Have had it for a few days now.

First order minor dislikes are:
No real place to put coins/change
Cup holders are different size and back one is small - won't hold Yeti cup.

Other VERY minor: wish there was a way to disable the seat controls in the back. My children think it is a amusement park ride. Have already disabled the entertainment system.
