  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Am I the only one to get a new Fuel Economy Lawsuit notice in the mail today? It covers '11-'13 years and apparently a suit from people that feel they might have not purchased their car or though should have paid less for their car because of the inaccurate mileage figures.
They are giving you three options based on your mileage driven so far. First is a lump sum, the second is a credit for Hyundai parts and services and the third or a discount toward purchase of a new car.
I haven't had my mileage verified in almost a year so I'm going to visit my dealer before I fill this thing out. Info is at wwwHyundaiMPGClassSettlement.com if you're interested.

I see no mention of Genesis on that link.

Be careful.
.

It accepted my VIN and my name popped up after the vin was completed. Return address is Hyundai PO box 26889 Santa Ana, Ca. If somebody wants my VIN- all they have to do is look in the window.

FWIW, I was at the dealership last week, and I asked the SA if there were any outstanding recalls or campaigns for my car. He said no. But, he did mention something about a mileage refund. He said he didnt think it applied to me because I bought mine CPO, not new.

I got one. I'm going for the Hyundai service voucher.

You can check your VIN. It said that even as a purchaser of a pre-owned Genesis R Spec, I am eligible based on starting and current mileage. I need to take my proof of purchase to the dealership to get the credit. it estimated my entitlement for owning the car for about 3 months and putting about 6000 kms on it during that time at about $40. I'm assuming someone who's owned the car considerably more might get a nice payout based on that. Best of luck.

Here's a PDF of the settlement notice:

This applies to original and non-original owners. Non original owners get less by the looks of things. In regards to how much original/non original, for the genesis specifically, the V6 has a 450/225 dollar maximum payment amount, whereas the V8 has a 600/300 payout. YMMV based on the mileage you put on the car.

Service voucher can be 1.5x that amount, and a "rebate" for a new car can be 2x that amount, less whatever you may have redeemed already on your prepaid cards.

Easiest way to figure out if you are eligible is go under here (no unique ID necessary), an eligible VIN will give you the proper clickthroughs.

I have a 2013 R-Spec that I bought in the middle of 2014 and it says my VIN is not elegeable. Maybe this lawsuit is only applicable to purchases before a certain date.

I guess they figure that if you bought an R-Spec- you didn't care about mpg.

We're sorry - the VIN you entered indicates you are not eligible for Settlement Benefits.

2013 R-spec purchased May 19 2013.

Mileage rebate would be great, but i didn't buy the car for fuel economy.
FWIW today was the first time that I filled the car from dead empty to completely full for under $50 20.06 gal for about $46

Would love them to give us a transmission program to let this engine work to its full potential though.

I printed out the claim form. The first step asks if the the person making the claim purchased the vehicle on or before November 2, 2012. If the answer is "NO", you do not qualify. The form does have a box to check if you are the second or subsequent owner, so if you meet the purchase date requirement you don't need to be the original or even the second owner. I believe the November 2, 2012 date is when Hyundai came out with corrected MPG numbers so if you purchased after notice of the correct MRG numbers, you are assumed to know what you are getting and thus you were not harmed.

Hope this helps. No money for me!

Mo money...Mo money...Mo money! Thank you Hyundai!

I drove to my dealer on Monday to verify my mileage with Hyundai. Today I called Hyundai and questioned the lawsuits and settlements.
Apparently, people don't like going to the dealer to verify their mileage every year so Hyundai is giving them the options that we read about in the recently received postcard.
We can continue to receive our yearly mileage check for miles driven OR we can take a buyout check, a dealership credit on parts and services or a discount on a new car purchase. We have these 4 choices.

Exactly, there are four choices for those who qualify, not three. If you are keeping your car for a while, and running up the miles, it would be foolish to take any of the three buyout options. Instead, just get a payout once or twice a year during a dealer service. In the end, you'll receive more $$$$.

I purchased my car Sept/13 but tried entering my VIN at the Canadian site to see what would happen and I got:
This estimator applies to the current reimbursement program only. Only vehicles sold or leased prior to November 3, 2012 qualify.

The VIN you have entered has not had a fuel economy ratings adjustment or was not sold within the program period. If you have any further questions, please review the FAQ section of this website or contact our consumer assistance centre at 1-888-673-7773.

I guess my fuel mileage is so much better then cars before Nov/12 that I don't qualify.

Not at all... you do not qualify because I bet if you check the mountain of papers you singed back in Sep/13, moments before you drove off the lot with a big grin, you find one particular paper explicitly states that the MPG / KM/L of this car is XYZ and is different from the "sticker" fuel numbers

This should be true for everyone who got their car on or after Nov/12.. :(

You may well be right daviderle, I'm not going to sift through the paperwork to find out. If I qualified I'd take the benefit but I'm not losing any sleep because I don't qualify. Thanks for the input.
