  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Having owned my Genesis for five years now I gotten used to people mistaking it for other cars. Lexus? BWM? Mercedes? Bentley? I always felt like it was testament to the quality of the car.

Now that I've seen the new design for the 2015 model I'm afraid people might start mistaking it for a slightly less prestigious model, the Ford Fusion.

I'm excited by the features the 2015 Genesis is offering and still considering trading up when it becomes available, but I really wish the would have pushed the exterior styling a bit more.

Ford must have copied Hyundai's innovative Fluidic Sculpture 2.0. Damn, doncha hate when that happens.

I saw a new Fusion yesterday and honestly thought I was looking at a Genesis!!!!! Holy copy-cat Batman

Don't feel bad -- had a friend ask me how I liked my Chrysler 200 compared to my BMW! Ouch! :(

I hate when they think my car is a Chrysler lol, yuck.

the guy who designed all the hyundai lines got hired by ford and did all their cars and suvs. Thats why they look very similiar especially the sonata and the fusion.

Give me a break. The Fusion has been available for awhile and the 2015 Genesis is just now coming out. Also, I thought the guy who designed the Genesis came from Audi.

My wife can look in the parking lot where she parked and walk to the wrong car because she thought it was hers because it was WHITE. Some people have NO concept of car types. I will take most of the above comments with a grain of ignorance.

While designers may bounce between companies, the ultimate blender will be the government.

With fleet fuel economy requirements being imposed, more and more companies are allowing their computers and wind tunnels design the car. It won't be long before most vehicles are nearly identical. We can already see it happening, its been like this for at least a few years. It will continue to get worse.

Not just the Fusion - take your pick - the Impala, the Avalon, the A7 (a more sleek, fastback version) and going back to prior models like the previous gen Infiniti M.

Personally, not a fan of the greenhouse design unless it's the sleeker version like on the A7 or the HCD-14 concept.

But the outgoing Genesis used a more traditional/upright greenhouse design with the Hofmeister kink - which is still heavily used today - Lexus GS and LS, Toyota Avensis, Acura RLX, Honda Accord, VW Passat, Subaru Legacy, and so on, as well as on older models like the Infiniti G35/37.

The Accord, in particular, not only shares the greenhouse, but the Genesis taillights, so from a 3-quarters view, it takes a longer glance to distinguish the 2.

Yup. I don't see many Genesis sedans near me and typically I mistake the Accord sedan for one from a distance. I rarely see RSpecs on the road.

The current Genesis IMO looks much better than the new one.

In ten yrs time the current one will still looks nice with its simple, elegant and clean lines.

I agree, especially with elegant and clean lines.

IMO, I like 2015 Genesis way better better looking than the current one. =) I didn't pay attention much in the current genesis so far.

I still think the 2015 Genny looks like a Sonata/Elantra from the rear. For the money that they will be charging I would not want to be driving around looking like I am in a $20,000 car. IMO

I do agree, while I like the new design it does look like an Elantra from the back. I would hate for someone to think it was one.

I think I'm starting to grow old on the whole "What is this car", I'm tired of explaining it when I'm out somewhere. Especially when pumping gas and I'm in a rush.

Aww, you guys, c'mon. It's like you want your car to be a unique reflection of you and your personality.

No one should be allowed that kind of ego. What's wrong with you? You should be happy if your car looked like a B9 Tribeca.

:D

IMO, theres no comparison. Inside and out the 2015 Genesis is hands down much better looking than the 2009-14 Genesis inside and out. The current Genesis is already often mistaken for lower priced cars now anyway. The 2015 Genesis might look like a Sonata/Elantra from the rear, but so do the Lexus ES/GS and Infiniti Q50 because those automakers liked the lights enough to steal them.

Too bad HMA didn't use the dual projector headlamps, they really make a difference in the appeal of the front end ... and do help differentiate vs. the Fusion.
