  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai Fusion?

The current Genesis is already often mistaken for lower priced cars now anyway.

I got a "Is that an Aston?" two days ago. Never gets old for me :D

The current Genesis is often mistaken for a cheaper car? Perhaps you were thinking of those vehicles that are modified to look like street racers? Let me assure you that my Genesis has usually been taken for a new BMW or the latest Benz. Time will tell if the 2015 model's exterior look has the same success.

From two posters in this very thread.

Don't feel bad -- had a friend ask me how I liked my Chrysler 200 compared to my BMW! Ouch! :(

I hate when they think my car is a Chrysler lol, yuck.

During one of the many test drives in a Genesis, some one asked me how I liked the Chrysler 200 I was driving. Anyway, no one will ever confuse the Genesis with a Elantra or Sonata on the road. The Genesis has a presence neither of those cars have.

I still think the 2015 Genny looks like a Sonata/Elantra from the rear. For the money that they will be charging I would not want to be driving around looking like I am in a $20,000 car. IMO

Well, so does the Lexus GS (in particular, the Sonata) and the current Gen and the Accord look very similar from the rear/side.

I have been asked more than once if my car was a Bentley. I have had folks in Volvos follow me and pull around staring at Genny. I have never been asked if it was a Sonata or Elantra or a Chrysler 200. I know that in the coming years all cars will look more and more alike as the manufacturers try to eek out every scrap or fuel mileage to conform to government fuel mileage regulations. I guess I will just turn my Belair into a daily driver. It definitely does not look like an Elantra.

Gentlemen, we should be discussing what the 2015 Genesis looks like. The 2009-2014 Genesis looks nothing like a Fusion or Elantra, but the 2015 does (depending on whether you are looking at front or rear). The rear may look like a larger version of an Elantra, but an Elantra nonetheless.

What people think your current Genesis looks like is irrelevant, since it looks nothing like the 2015 Genesis.

Comparing the look of the original Genesis to the '15 is certainly not "irrelephant." Any step backward in beauty by the new model that negatively impacts sales would be regretted for years by Hyundai. A car with styling like the Kia Amanti will never be missed. I think it will be much different with the beautiful original Genesis.

I would feel bad if I'm driving a new S class next to a new C class very alike. From distance, don't they look same from rear?

Between A4 vs A6(sometimes vs A8), they look all same to me when I'm seeing one of them coming from the other road.

Interview with John Krsteski - chief Genesis designer.

As I had stated before, I'm a bit underwhelmed by the design overall.

A few tweaks to the greenhouse, headlights, grill and taillights and the design could have been much better.

That's how I feel about the Mona Lisa.

I'll TRY to reserve judgment as much as I can until I can physically see this new Genesis in person, but based on first swag, you can probably count me out on re-upping.

Hyundai Fusion indeed.
