  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know our think there will ever be hacking or programming the on-board computer that controls functions in your car? For example programming the acc to never turn off so you don't have to put your hand on the wheel every 15 seconds, keep eco mode as default setting when starting car, keep auto hold on...things like this are super simple if anyone can get their hands on the program.

My bmw always had this option where you would only need a cable to hook up to obd2...then hook up to your computer with the program and you can do all sorts of things like reset battery discharge after replacing battery, lock button closes Windows, speedometer, etc

You can install timers and relays to select eco or sport mode when you start the ar, I think. it would be the same as the automatic turn on of my cooled seat or my automatic rear sunshade. No simple programming, but doable.

Mess with programming And poof goes your warranty :(

Please stop spreading misinformation...your warranty will not be void because you made some simple change to a certain function except maybe for that certain function...but just because you made auto hold turn on automatically will not void your engine warranty or anything like that.

Just like if you put new suspension on your car only your suspension warranty is now void and not your entire car. Even if you put in a new intake and your engine fails the company has to directly relate your engine failure to your aftermarket intake mod for them to deny your warranty claim.

They may try to deny and blame it on whatever but doesn't mean they are right and you can't appeal and reverse that decision.

Anyway back to the topic...I don't want to use relays and there is a program out there just no one here has it....Hyundai for sure has this program lol...if we could get this program there are so many things you can change. I just don't think this is a big enough market for someone to put in the time to get it

I remember during my ownership of 2009 BMW 750 I have purchased an application online named BMW INPA or something like that. That application was installed to my laptop and the laptop was connected to OBD2 port.
I enabled and/or modified many features such as trunk close from FOB, shocks rebound rate for sports mode and many others. It was nice as it gave me the chance to really personalize me car back then....
It would be fantastic if we can get something similar for Genesis....

yeah VAG has software like this..if it's around i'm sure the genny coupe guys would know

The Hyundai/Kia diagnostic computer is called Hyundai GDS (Global Diagnostic System). A quick search reveals numerous links to a relatively inexpensive (probably Chinese) version. The inexpensive version states that it has "complete diagnostics, analysis and reprogramming capabilities."

This link has more information about the official version (links to three documents at the bottom of the page). The Introduction lists, "all ECU related reprogramming or option settings" on page 2.

I have never used either version, so I don't know what reprogramming capabilities they have.

Would definitely enjoy having the drive mode and auto hold feature default to the last-used position.

If your an expert programmer and you know Hyundai's system no problem.
BUT one screw up and your warranty is gone for the computer...so it's not misinformation
