If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi All,

I'm a newbie on these boards and thoroughly enjoy reading them and looking at the posted pics & info (jwaters & others ...thanks for your excellent contributions).

I am considering the possibility of trading in my Lexus RX330 for a Genesis and was curious about Hyundai Dealers's Customer Service. The Lexus Customer Service at my dealer is very good and one of the reasons I enjoy owning my RX330. I always get a loaner vehicle and my vehicle gets washed and a complimentary tank of gas when its serviced. Now, I wouldn't expect all that if I bought the Genesis but it would be nice to at least get a loaner vehicle. This is a big deal to me since missing time at work can be a problem. Since Hyundai is marketing the Genesis as a premium sedan I would expect premium service commensurate with the level of service the competition provides. Can anyone tell me if this is, or will be the case for Genesis owners?

Thanks.

Welcome, Sesame. Thank you for signing up. My personal opinion is that you will Not receive premium service at a Hyundai dealership. Nothing like the service you've experienced at Lexus.

I would love to tell you otherwise, but this is my honest opinion...

I would have to agree. You might be able to talk them into a loaner/rental if the car was going to be in for a lengthy warranty repair, etc., but for oil changes and minor maintenance the best you'll get is likely a ride in their shuttle vehicle. To be fair though, a loaner car isn't something that is typically offered by non-premium makes. I never got one on my Ford, VW, Honda, etc. Heck, some luxury brands in my area still don't offer loaners as a general rule (e.g. Cadillac, Range Rover, Audi, and Saab). In fact, the only dealerships in my area that make it a habit to offer loaners are Lexus, Acura, MB, Porsche, Volvo & BMW (we don't have a Jag or Infiniti dealership). Of course everything varies by dealership, so I would ask your local Hyundai dealership(s) what their policy is and if they claim to offer loaners, ask to see it in writing.

Good luck with your decision. If it turns out your dealership doesn't offer loaners I would be sure to keep the number for your local Enterprise handy. They will deliver the rental car to you at your home, work or Hyundai dealership, which is nice. :)

I highly doubt you will get the kind of premium service you expect from the premium brands. If Hyundai have made the new brand of 'Genesis' the story might have been different, but since they are selling the car UNDER Hyundai, chances are, you won't get it. I am not sure about the loaners, since some dealers will give it to you. I have an 08 Grand Prix, and when I pulled in for my free oil change about few weeks ago, they offered me a loaner car(which, I didn't take and waited for the car instead) in a Sunfire. So, I guess you can ask your local Hyundai dealers what they can offer.

I'm going to agree and disagree here...

Though my wife has never gotten a tank of gas when her SF is getting serviced, they DO wash her car AND provide a loaner. Now I don't use their wash service often because I am very maticulous with car washing.

I guess it really boils down to the dealer. Though Hyundai is not considered premium but the Genesis is supposed to bring that image to the company via this particular vehicle. Now it's up to the dealer to provide said service or try to think they sold you an Accent.

I have to say that our experience with Ed Voyles Hyundai has been very good. They just better not make me wait with my APP so I can pick up my V8 sooner rather than later :p

All in all to say that it will depend on the dealer you go to and you may want to be clear what you want and make sure it's in writing. Sales dept. doesn't control the Service dept. and vice versa.

That's encouraging news. I am also meticulous about car washing and would normally never allow a dealer to wash my car (swirl marks drive me crazy!). However, my Lexus dealer seems to have trained their staff very well and they use most of the same cleainging products I do (Zymol, Meguiers, etc) and ultrasoft Microfiber wash mitt and towels. In any case the car wash isn't important to me as I can do that myself. The real important item is that they provide a loaner vehicle. Based on you your post it sounds like this is something I can negotiate with the Hyundai dealer in advance. I certainly do not think it is unreasonable given the market segment they expect the Genesis to compete in.

I am looking to get the Genesis 4.6 model with Techno package so it may be another month or so before they become available. One thing that surprised me is that Hyundai announced there is no plan for an AWD version of the car. Had they made an AWD version it would have sealed the decision for me to get a Genesis. As it stands now I live in the Northeast and we do get snow in the winter (my RX330 is AWD). Not sure how a rear-while drive Genesis will perform in those conditions.

BigElm's post IS indeed encouraging.. Hopefully all Hyundai dealerships will follow suit...

Otherwise, all wheel drive IS good - but I think with today's technology, the RWD cars (with the right tires) fare very well in wintry conditions...

I think that for the time being it may require a bit of an out of the way trip to find a good dealer that will recognize the value of going the extra mile for Genesis customers.

That's not a bad idea. You just need to hope that when it comes time for service, you're taken care of locally...

I live in the St Louis area and many dealers compete for business. I recently leased a Genesis from a dealership that gives loaner cars and complimentary washes with every service. In fact, the dealer has a drive-thru wash that is free anytime they are open and people want to use it. However, you must have one of their cars to use it.

The complimentary tank of fuel is a big deal in these times! My dealership doesn't do that.

In my opinion, Lexus, Infiniti, MB and high-end dealers used to have a corner on good service and premium treatment with luxury waiting rooms and appointments and snotty service. But when it comes down to it - I would rather have competent service at a reasonable price than a leather seat to sit in for the 20 minutes i have to wait for the loaner car.

Check with your dealer and buy or lease from the dealer that offers you the best benefits. That's how dealers compete. Loaner cars, washes, and a good service department keep you coming back and referring your friends to the make/model and dealer.

Happy servicing.
