  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Please reply here with anything you find positive about the Genesis or your experience with it. Owners or test drivers only, please.

Thank you

-The ride quality
-The absence of noise in the cabin
-The styling
-The A/C system (it's performed flawlessly in our near 100 degree heat)
-The price vs. feature content ratio
-The acceleration/throttle response (3.8 V6)
-The gauges (simple and extremely legible)
-The substantial/solid feel of the doors, glovebox, etc.
-The audio system is great! I love the sound quality and the clarity. I'm still messing around w/ the EQ to get the best sound, but even when cranked up there is very little distortion.

I got to do my test drive today. The largest dealer in the area (Richmond, Virginia) has one vehicle. He has it on his showroom floor, but if you are "seriously interested", they drive it right out the door and let you take it for a spin (trying to keep the miles down!). It is the same car that jwaters943 has --the Premium Plus package, platinum silver color with the black interior and brown leather accent panels. I think the interior looks terrific -- I really like the black/brown two-tone. The sweeping curve in the console looks great too.

The seats seemed very comfortable to me, and the back seat is indeed roomy, and very comfortable feeling. I also liked how the rear seat has air conditioning vents on both the center console and the door pillar.

I have recently driven both the M35 and the ES350. I didn't care for the stiff ride of the M35, and really liked the softer ride of the Lexus. The Genesis falls in between, in my opinion. It was comfortable and smooth, but fairly firm.

There is nothing fancy about the trunk, but it is very good in size. I like the sound and feel of the door and trunk closures -- quality feel to me.

The proximity key seems to work well. Locking and unlocking doors is with a little button on the handles, like the M35.

I've always liked the look of the exterior, and seeing it did not disappoint. It really is a great-looking car. I'll post a couple of other thoughts in the "Cons" thread. Thanks.

Okay, a few more pros:

-It was near 100 today and I noticed that within 3-4 minutes the cabin had cooled down to 70 degrees. The A/C seems very impressive. Even when sitting for hours in the heat the climate control system somehow managed to blow out cold air within seconds of starting the car.

-The headrests are very comfy. I rarely rest my head against the headrests in my car, but it's nice to know they're so soft. :)

-The iPod connection is great. I love having full control over my iPod (You can select from: artists, composers, genres, playlists, etc.)

Pros;

1) The ride. I like the ride. Not as good as my Azera but probably it's the seat.
2) The dash is simply stunning. Photos just don't do it justice.
3) 18" wheels look much better than the photos.
4) Power seems to come on better than my Azera. Not as much lag.
5) Interior fit and finish is impecable. Really impressive.
6) Door gaps, body seams look great.
7) Doors close with a solid thump. Really nice sound.
8) Quiet

I would pick an Azera over this car any day, at least at this level. Maybe in a few years the Genesis will make up some ground. With all the packages it feels like you're being nickeled and dimed to death.

-The stability control system is less intrusive in aggressive driving than the VDIM system on my GS430 (I was able to slide the rear end out a bit when accelerating aggressively around a sharp turn, but the stability control quickly reigned me in. Once I get up the nerve and find an emty street or parking lot I might have some fun with it turned off just to see what it can do.)

-The seats are much more comfortable after nearly 3 weeks of use (maybe I just finally got the adjustments right.....for me having the lumbar fully deflated works best. With the lumbar inflated even a little it feels like I'm sitting ON the seat, instead of IN it. As a result, you find yourself sliding around quite a bit in the twisties).

Don't own one yet... just impressions from the Discover Genesis Tour regarding the V8 Tech:

- Smooth quiet ride
- Terrific audio system
- Very effective cooled seat (wish there are two)
- Backup/reverse camera with proximity sensors and graphics showing distance to object
