Hyundai Genesis to get twin-turbo V6 in 2017 or 2018

I have no turbo lag annoyances in my 2.0T '14 Santa Fe Sport. It also beats my Genesis 0-40 mph. My only wish is that Hyundai would make a Genesis grade version of the Santa Fe.

They tried. Called the Veracruz. It was terrible on all levels. I had a loaner for 5 days, had to fill it up twice. The thing was so bad inside and out lol

V6 TT over the V8 for me.

I'd take the TT6 on my bmw over the Hyundai V8 any day... but they are both TOP Notch engines.

though doubt I'll be doing the genesis next refresh for my car.

Dont be so hard on hyundai downsizing... everybody is doing it , even bmw... research the m3.
I could have bought the v8 m3 and refrained for many reasons the TT6 was ideal for everyday and performance driving.

I'm prob going to pick up the 1.6T Tucson for the wife... should be interesting such a small engine in the SUV... and I'll guarentee its faster with more MPG then the 2.4 CRV its replacing.

there's two mindsets... and neither is wrong.

one is the helcat
and the other is the tesla model S 85D.

both will get you there insanely fast just differently.

The new 2016 BMW 7 series will have a twin-scroll-turbocharged V-8 engine that produces 445 hp and an undisclosed amount of torque, don't kill the V8 for those who could care less about gas mileage. It will also be the first production sedan to have laser headlights, which are capable of producing up to 600 meters of light in automatic high-beam mode depending on your speed and the type of road your on.

Hyundai has shown that it can bring innovative technologies to the market while undercutting the competition, if not laser headlights then at least active matrix LED should come to the Genesis....and fog lights for the V6 !!!! lol.

That V8 produces closer to 500 horsepower actually. BMW under-rates... I definitely don't want to see the V8 go away but I personally would not lose any sleep if it did. Hyundai better get those foglights on their V6 Genesis Sedan very soon. I don't know what's worse - no LED foglights for the second generation V6 or a cooled driver seat without a cooled passenger seat of the first generation. Hyundai does some silly things...

I've read a rumor from someone who works at a Hyundai dealership that there MAY be a 5.0L V8 Genesis Coupe too. I don't know the source or if it is true, but the Sedan has the V8, so why not the Coupe?

I have read that they will offer the current v6 3.8, the 3.3TT and the V8. I doubt they would run all these though.

I'd LOVE to see a V8 Genesis Coupe but I really think they're going to stick with the 3.3 liter twin turbo V6 for the mainstream performance version. IF there's an N-Division high performance version it might get the 5.0 liter V8. But even then - I feel the twin turbo V6 with more boost is still more likely.

I also kinda feel the second generation Genesis Coupe will lose the naturally aspirated V6 for a turbo 4 when all is said and done.

Keep in mind it's very easy to add more power (boost) to the 2.0T to bring it closer to the performance of the naturally aspirated 3.8 liter V6. Whichever setup proves to be either lighter or save more fuel will go into the next Genesis Coupe.

If fuel economy is their thing I'd much rather they add cylinder deactivation to the v8 than replace it with a turbo v6. GM's version is supposedly quite seamless (GM's problem has always been management not engineering, Ferrari uses GM's magnetorheological shocks rather than develop their own).

The indication has been that the new coupe in its N-Performance form will have the 3.3TT with greater boost than what will go into the Genesis/G80 - somewhere around 400HP.

Think Hyundai/Genesis will save the V8 (by then likely a smaller FI V8) for something along the lines of the Vision G - an even higher-end coupe.
