  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I recently purchased a 2009 Genesis 4.6 with the technology package. As you are all aware, and as I was aware in purchasing the car, I can't play music from my iPhone wirelessly. It really sucks not having the capability, but I just have to live with it!

I own an iPhone 5, and the salesman who sold me the Genesis told me that Hyundai has not yet released an iPhone 5 cable to plug in to the Genesis. Yes, I understand I can buy an adapter for the iPhone 4 Hyundai cable, but I don't want to do that. While waiting the "month or so" for the iPhone 5 cable to be released by Hyundai, I've been using a generic AUX cord.

My question is: does anyone here have experience comparing a Hyundai iPhone/iPod cable to a regular AUX cord? Specifically, I want to know if the sound quality differs between the two. I was quite surprised at how good the sound quality is from my AUX cord (as in my old car, using the AUX cord resulted in much poorer sound quality than using the Bluetooth wireless streaming feature).

Can anyone comment on whether a Hyundai iPhone/iPod cable produces better sound quality through the Lexicon stereo than using a regular AUX cord? Thanks in advance.

Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. I have a 2010 premium, and I found that I like using an Aux connector much more that the Hyundai connector for my iPod. The reasons were: 1. The sound through Aux was better, in my opinion, and 2. the wheel controller on the iPod allows much faster access to desired music, with better search categories than that thru the head unit. you cannot use the controller on the iPod when connected through the Hyundai adaptor.

Of course, then I will leave my iPod running when I exit the car, and the batter will run down if you forget to manually stop the music. And, I have a separate charger for the iPod in the car now so as to be able to recharge on the go.

There is another threat where someone insists that the sound is better with the adaptor. I am looking for that thread, now.
