  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Called my Southern Ontario Hyundai dealer today to book a 24,000km service. I supply oil ( synthetic ), have rear snow tires ( no rotation nor balancing ) $295 !! They are nuts.
Getting it all done locally for under $60 !! Incidentally, the cabin air filters,
($40 here in Canada ) are $8.50 on E bay. Hyundai just don't get it.
Have to say I've been totally dissatisfied with Hyundai Canada & the dealers. VERY poor, unimaginative & unskilled. May even make me rethink another Hyundai

Clearly, this is dealer-specific thing. I've had my oil and oil filter changed several times now for a little over $40 (oil, filter, labour incl). Good courteous service done in less than 1/2 hr (live in the West Island, Montreal). I suggest you try another dealer.
In my case, I have always serviced my car at a different dealership from where I purchased the car simply because they are closer to my home. Never had problems doing that.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Ah....but that's NOT the 24,000km check. Why it includes $88 to inspect the brakes !! Just wait. $18 to lube the throttle body ! Almost $30 to inspect the hoses etc !!

Not all periodic services are created equal. Supposedly they're supposed to match the manufacturer's service schedule, but often the services don't match up with the milestones or include a lot of stuff that's unnecessary (or has a generic "if applicable" to the vehicle notation).

What does your dealer's 24K km/15K mi check include?

It's not Hyundai's fault, it's the dealer. Check your maintenance schedule manual to see what work is required to be done, rather than what the dealer *recommends* being done.

Dealer maintenance schedules generally include a bunch of ad on services that Hyundai doesn't require.

Yes the 24k service is a fairly expensive one, but since the regular oil services are only about $50 I'm certainly not complaining. The 24k includes the Brake Service which involves disassembling, cleaning and lubricating all four brake calipers. The Air Filter is changed and a number of other inspections and service items are checked. All this for $250 more than a regular oil service (which of course is also part of the 24k), I don't consider that expensive. BTW my dealer rotates my tires at every oil service unless I ask them not to. Your experience is the total opposite to my own. I find my dealer knowledeable, helpful and cooperative. Going outside the dealer network for service, could compromise your warranty.

Now if you want to see expensive, try a BMW Dealer Inspection 1 or 2 for a bank account draining experience!!:D

ACTUALLY going outside the dealer network can not & does NOT impact your warranty. You can ensure little things get done. You just keep a written record of it. I have not & will not use dealer service....ever, except for recalls. ( 5 new cars )

OK.....so why did you call them about booking the 24K service then. I'm confused  (admitedly not an unusual state :).
