  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just saw a news clip stating that Hyundai are now offering a lifetime warranty on their Theta II engines, in light of the class action lawsuit laid against them. I'm wondering if some learned members of this forum can comment or shed light on how this will affect the 2.0L owners on this board. If I'm not mistaken, our 2.0 engines are Theta II's and should therefor be covered under this new warranty. In the news clippings, they'll mention every Hyundai or Kia using this particular motor (well, motors, as the 2.4 is mentioned as well), but no mention of the Genesis.

I'm thinking that a lifetime engine warranty is cool, but I'd rather my engine just not seize up altogether.

if i recall correctly there was a specific manufacturing defect at the US Theta II assembly line that created the issue. Made in Korea engines were unaffected.

but don't take my word for it.
