  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

has anyone else got the invitation? taken it? what do you think??

Was is it? Sounds interesting...

I got it, joined it, and am trying to figure out who the Genesis guy is. (no luck so far)

Big downside here is that it is horribly slow. They need a better server if it's going to be a success. Also very hard to navigate vs. this great forum.

For those who haven't seen it, this is an attempt to reach out by Hyundai to their public. They are offering direct access to development and product managers. They claim they will have live interactive 'chat' sessions, scheduled in advance, with people on who can answer questions and get things done. My first post is going to point them to this site, and the thread on what they need to fix. Try it out, it came live on Monday 11/17.

I got the invite, too, and decided to sign up. That was about eight hours ago and the e-mail with login instructions hasn't shown up yet. Hope that's not indicative...

I just registered (as 'richardg', BTW), and it's obvious that the site is run by HMA Marketing folks. Pretty quiet over there so far, but we'll see what kind of momentum the site can muster. There's some sort of on-line "event" scheduled for Mon 12/15 that may or may not turn out to be interesting.

My motive for joining this group is the opportunity to provide direct feedback to HMA management about things they can do both short- and long-term to improve the ownership experience.

I just joined too. I think that we as a group have a wealth of knowledge and experience that could greatly assist them. Lets hope they are open to what we have to say!

I'm in too. Reasonably painless. I just HOPE they do follow through and listen. NOT that I have any solid gripes, but I do have ideas for the next gen. Totally novel to ask the users what WE think huh?! Hey Big 3... are you listening?

Hyundai DO listen. I bet they already have people scouring this board as we speak. I know for a fact that they had representatives scouring the boards of newtiburon.com. The redesigned 2009 Sonata addressed so many of the intial complaints from magazines and forum users alike with its ride quality, interior design and power. Hyundai fixed all three. This is a company that is very proactive in its marketing and research.

Im in, waiting for the email!

That was quick. I just received my username and password...

Ok, I have already sent a PM, through the THINK TANK, and made a post! My PM and post was all about ESC CONTROL. Maybe I can get them to tell me how to REALLY disable the ESC!!!

Doubt it though! HA

Ping - I did see this disclaimer in Think Tank .....

"Please note that Hyundai Think Tank is not designed to provide customer service support for Hyundai. We politely request that you direct any such inquiries to the Customer Service section of HyundaiUSA.com or call them directly at 800-633-5151 where they will be happy to assist you."

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

Yeah. They're not going to want discussions going on over there of what's wrong with customer vehicles.. This is really a site intended for discussion regarding Hyundai moving forward with its products and business..

I made a post asking if you can "factory order" a Genesis through a dealer and if so can you specify the leather dash color. If not maybe they should think about making this available in the future.
I also asked Frank @ EdVoylesHyundai the same question since he has been very helpful volunteering info. on this forum. I'll bet Frank will have the answers first!!

I think it is on life support already. Posted over 24hrs ago, no response. Slower than dirt. For some reason, their 5 page profile you have to fill out will not accept my zip code. I even changed it from the edit profile function while logged in, and it says it saved it. Logged in again today, no zip, have to go through the 5 page profile again! Also found the "rule" in the last paragraph of their charter:

Please note that Hyundai Think Tank is not designed to provide customer service support for Hyundai. We politely request that you direct any such inquiries to the Customer Service section of HyundaiUSA.com or call them directly at 800-633-5151 where they will be happy to assist you.

This appears to be the guy we need to get to, or get to view this forum:

Bio I'm the Product Manager for the Sonata, Azera, and Genesis. I've been with Hyundai for 5 years and have over 12 years of automotive manufacturer experience in model line planning. I managed to break into the auto industry after finishing graduate school and years of working with Sony in the electronics industry. Having a passion for cars, I've always wanted to work in the auto industry. I can still remember my first "car", a 1969 Ford pick-up truck that was my grandfathers. I customized it with new wheels, paint, side mirrors, rear sliding window (no a/c!!!), and an audio system. It was hot! Currently, I rotate among driving the Sonata, Azera, and Genesis. They all have great features and really different characters. I look forward to interacting with members of the Hyundai Think Tank community regarding product features and functionality. When I'm not thinking about cars (almost never), I can be found doing home repairs, working out at the gym, going to movies, and traveling. Oh yeah, dogs love Hyundai vehicles!!!...ask my chocolate labrador.

I have called the Hyundai Consumer Affairs 800 number more than once asking if I could factory order a Genesis. Unfortunately they have assured me each time that this is not possible. They also cannot even tell me if and when any dealer in the Southeast will get a White Satin Pearl Tech 3.8 with black interior. They keep referring me back to the dealers in my area who in turn tell me they have no idea. Very frustrating. I guess I will keep on waiting and looking on my own as my wife and I desire only this partiaular color combo.

rpenland;

I hear you! I happened to be talking to a sales manager at a dealership yesterday and he had the Hyundai regional manager siting with him. When I asked if a Genesis could be "ordered" I heard the Hyundai guy say he didn't know! Then he said tell him not to worry we'll get him the car he wants. I heard that now about a dozen times. I'm starting to wonder which I'll see first the car or Dow 14,000!

I forgot to mention that my think tank posting went to:

Hi! I'm Janet and I'm the moderator for the Hyundai Think Tank. I'm here to guide you through the Community and make sure you know what's going on. If you have any problems or questions, please don't hesitate to contact me via the Message Center. I look forward to meeting all of you!

I figured that she will know who to direct my comments to, maybe I'll try Michael next time.

I heard back from Janet at the "Hyundai Think Tank":

First she said that Hyundai does not take any "factory orders" at this time but they will look into the possibility of changing that in the future.

Second the dash board leather has been specially combined with the interior color combinations offered on the Genesis to optimize and accentuate the details and craftsmanship of the interior.

Third all people waiting for 4.6's should be satisfied by the end of January according to the factory.

The third item really surprised me. That must mean that the factory has geared up to produce more 4.6s and get them shipped over here in the next few months. That should make alot of people happy!!
