  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai vs Genesis

Whatever they do they do need to start the SUV/CUV thing sooner than later as this is the route America is going. The larger sedan market in general is fading faster by the month in North America. Here is just 1 article. http://www.autonews.com/article/20160905/RETAIL01/309059951/the-family-car-is-in-free-fall
It's already started. It takes a while to design and manufacture a brand new vehicle. They may cut some corners and base them on existing Hyundai products, which may not be all bad as the Santa Fe is highly regarded.

I was using BMW as an example of establishing an effective brand loyalty, which I believe Genesis is missing an opportunity to engender that loyalty with simple extras, beyond that which is offered to Hyundai (non-Genesis) owners

I don't know what you mean by BMW building brand loyalty. When did BMW provide extras (such as free scheduled maintenance during first 3-4 years of ownership) to older BMW owners who bought models before that free maintenance was provided?

I don't buy the claim of brand loyalty, they are looking for a freebie. Several members have had a choice of a 2015/2016 Hyundai Genesis or a Genesis G80, and they chose the former to save money (because the 2015/2016's were more highly discounted), but they want all the freebees of G80.

It was on a 2003 530i I almost purchased. As of 2014, you can't transfer it to a new owner. As of 2017, wear items are not included.

Not sure why this is such a hard concept, Genesis is trying to establish itself as a luxury brand and it is doing a poor job. BMW does things to bring people in, not exclude. I have experienced both in the last 6 months and it is night and day.

BMW has a large and prosperous dealer network (not owned by BMW) that it took many years to build. Genesis Motors will have to convince a lot of entrepreneurs to invest millions of dollars each to create a Genesis dealership that will improve the Genesis buying and owning experience. I am not sure you understand the relationship between the manufacturer/importer and the dealers.

If you would like to own a Genesis dealership, and have at least several million dollars to invest, I am sure they would be glad to discuss it with you.

When I brought my car in 2014 I had no IDEA that hyundai was going to do this, if I have I wouldn't have purchased.. The resale value of my car is abysmal..

I personally could care less about the freebies but hyundai knew they was going to make the genesis brand, by not including the buyers of the 15-16's, thats just wrong

the squeaks and rattles, constant nosy wipers..i may buy this new G80 sport 2 yrs after its released.. based on the current values on my 2015. I should be able to grab one for 25

When the 2015's went on sale, I doubt seriously they knew they were going to create the Genesis brand. I am sure it has been discussed every year since 2009, but the decision to go ahead was likely made more recently.

Hyundai cannot make a car sold as a Hyundai into a Genesis retroactively. Once it is sold as a Hyundai, it is always a Hyundai, due to various legal, insurance, and tax issues involved.

When I registered my G80 it listed Hyundai as the make of the car. When I tried to corect it the DMV they said that the paper work process from the manufacturer and the dealer does not allow them to do that. So its is still a Hyundai despite the G80 designation.
