  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi All,
After 1 year of 6 months of "enjoying" my 2009 BMW 750i i have decided to trade it in and return to Genesis! After many visits to the shop and few thousands dollars spent on various fixes I realized that this car is simply too much for me.
I love BMW brand but I will keep a safe distace for many years to come. Too much trouble.
I purchased a 2013 Genesis R-Spec. I did test drive the 2015 R-spec but I did not like the ride.
Happy to be back!

Welcome back! As I mentioned elsewhere, BMW/Mercedes are wonderful for the first 4/50 (warranty).

Even under warranty, multiple visits to the shop really get to one's nerves!

True, but I'm sure they have high end coffee and snacks to satisfy the elite clientele!

Ditto. I came to my Genesis after 12 years and something like 160K miles of BMW 7 Series ownership. I developed a severe case of maintenance fatigue. In and out of warranty, the car loves to be at the dealership. By contrast, our Honda Odyssey has never had a non-routine maintenance visit in 7 years, except for two or three recalls. My Genesis has not had a single non-routine issue in my first two years. I think I only had 1 easy year with the BMWs.

Welcome back! The only positive German car ownership experience I have had was a 1979 MB 6.9. All others (quite a few between Audi, MB and BMW) have been reformed forever.

Welcome back! Had a 2003 745li for 6 years. Spent THOUSAND'$ on repairs. This thread has confirmed my great choice. Thanks for the input.

E38 and E39 (5 series) were the best bimmers ever build....now its just effing electronics, gizmo gadgets.

For those of us who've never had bimmers (and are too lazy to look up those generations), what model years are those?

Thanks. My neighbor just traded his E39 (525, manual, bought new when he was visiting Germany) for a new Audi Q7 a couple weeks ago. Talk about electronics and gizmos....

See, he kept it for over 11 years! ....same as me, only mine was v8 540i manual ;) ... I sold it nearly 17 months ago and I still miss that car.

Oh well, gotta move on...

Yup. I sold my '02 Passat 1.8T manual (chipped) back in 2011. I still miss that one...

My experience with the E class has been good, though not as reliable as the Genesis they do ride and handle better.

Ok I'll be the first to ask about the difference in ride between the 2013 R-Spec and the 2015 Genesis (I am surprised no one else has). I don't think I've ever read that someone prefers the first generation's ride over the 2nd. Forzza1 what is about the first generations ride (understanding some refinements were present late in the first generation) that you preferred over the newer Genesis?

I feel that the ride on 2015 was a bit harsh. The car was a demo with 3000 miles on it. I had to choose between a 2015 3.8 and 2013 R-Spec. I prefer the latter. IMHO the powertrain is smoother and somehow I find the overall ride more refined
I am pretty sure some folks on this forum will get outraged by such comments but to each its own. :)
