  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The moderators here have too much power. Power can be a good thing, when there is a reasonable person at the controls. Here, we have a mix. My input has been (more than once) deleted due to prejudice:

"cschuler: I understand your argument, but thread-jacking is not appropriate, if you want to start a discussion about the dangers of people driving too fast, you are welcome to, but do it in the appropriate section of the forum".[/QUOTE]

This is disturbing. "Appropriate" is when and if there is relevance. Over-powered cars and DANGEROUS high-speed driving on PUBLIC roads are eminently related topics. There is a ton of "appropriatness" there.

Enjoy your editorial powers and your ego. Just want to let you know that I fully realize that the moderators here have very thin skins. Given their behaviors, that makes sense.

Thread-jacking, INDEED!

It's not thread jacking, it's freedom of speech. I KNOW that this is NOT a public forum and FOS is not legally an issue .... but, it is still a nice way to go for those who can withstand a bit of criticism. Those who can stand up to reasonable criticism have mostly thought things through. Those who can not, are often dangerous.

I missed whatever threads/posts caused this departure, but I'll say you'll be missed... At least by me.
Internet boards don't always attract IQ's above 100. You seemed to have one.

He has had to study on this for at least a week before this conclusion. Talk about a delayed response.

Interesting. So let me get this straight...

  1. You point out that the Moderators have thin skin, but you're the one posting a rant about how you have been mistreated,
  2. You were given instructions on how to post whatever you want to post, but it seems that you would rather complain instead of following the moderator's advice, and
  3. You admit that as there is no freedom of speech issue, and yet you try and argue that there is a freedom of speech issue.

Does that about sum it up?

As the owner of one forum, and a Moderator at another, I can tell you that rules are put in place for a reason. Those that elect to not follow the rules suffer the consequences, whatever those consequences may be. In your case, it seems that your threads were deleted for repeated violations.

By the way, posting a rant about a Moderator's actions is not only in bad form, but likely a violation of the rules as well. I wouldn't be surprised if this thread was removed just like the others, especially considering that it has been posted in the wrong area.

Ian, nothing you say is wrong. In fact it's spot on.
But what's interesting to me is that you chose your first post on this board to opine on a subject unrelated to the Genesis. Nothing wrong with necessarily, just interesting.
How's your car?

Good point, and yeah, I considered the irony of my first post being about somebody else's "last" post, as well as the content of my post. I figured what better way to pop onto the scene (after lurking for about a month)?! :p

How's your car?

As far as the car goes, so far mostly so good. The wife and I are really enjoying it, although we seem to be plagued by the drooping steering wheel. I'm not terribly worried about it as I have already armed myself with the appropriate TSB and have given my dealership a heads up about the service I will be requesting in short order. They asked me to call ahead so they can order the correct parts, so they don't seem to be opposed to trying to make the power adjustable steering issue go away.

I came from a Mercedes by way of a Honda Crosstour. Long story short, I missed the luxury of the Mercedes but wasn't about to hop back into the ownership costs. The Genesis gives me everything the Mercedes had and much, much more. I couldn't be happier.

This link may help you on the steering wheel.. http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=6906&highlight=steering+wheel+reset

Thanks. I've done that (several times already). It works for a short time, but slowly the steering wheel drifts back into my lap. Although now that I read it again, I think I've been doing it with the car running. Will need to try in a bit with the car off.

Or, unless you need the clearance, just turn off the feature.

Notice how this thread has been hijacked? Bad form by all of us.
Gnight.

Yep. Bad form, except that when the thread gets deleted, I won't be posting a public complaint.

Too much power? I can delete posts, that's about it. Most of my time is spent re-organizing misplaced posts and handling spam. I deleted a flame war you started, with an off-topic post, and explained my reasoning. I don't see how you could think I'm abusing my power.

Threadjack: To take over the content of a message thread by changing the subject of discourse to a topic outside the purview of the original subject

I actually agree with you about dangerous drivers, your comments were merely placed inappropriately. You have added valuable content to this site, and I would be saddened if you left on my account.

Give peace a chance .:).
