  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone,

With the help of everyone, I finally bought my used Genesis last Friday afternoon. I bought it for 31,500. V6 with Tech package. I absolutely love it.

I wish I could think of more excuses to drive. I love the blue lighting on the inside. The headlights are really awesome...except they don't seem to go out too far, but it was not bad.

I was caught in a bad rain storm in the way home from Ohio - and the wipers were absolutely awful. I cleaned them with alcohol when I got home....so hopefully they are better. Otherwise I need to get new wipers.

I'd like to replace the wheel caps and the rear emblem.

I have the red color...the color is so odd, when it is overcast, it looks flat...but when it is sunny out, the metallic really shows and makes the car look brighter and shinier.

The suspension is definately rough...but I think I can live with it. It rides so well on the interstate...when it is rough (just before you get to my driveway), my accord just absorbed the bumps.

I bought an ACDC music dvd... sounds pretty good. I went to the dealer with a loaded USB drive, so I could listen to it on the way home.

Thanks to the help of prior posts, I got the garage door openers programmed for my house and my moms house. Took a while, but I got it.

Congrats! Would love to see the pics... I really like the red on the Genesis.

Regarding the headlights - mine (and many others on here) were aimed too low. It's a very easy adjustment - just pop the hood and look for a small hole with "U" and "D" with directional arrows - this is your horizontal adjustment. You will need a really long philips head screwdriver - I ended up at sears as nothing in my toolbox was long enough.

Enjoy your new ride :D

I thought about posting pics...but I thought everyone pretty much knows what they look like. haha

It is 11 pm, and I am considering a grocery store run just to drive it some more!

I kinda wish I had waited for a V8, but I think this one has decent power.

A friend of mine has a Bonneville GXP, and his wheels are the same size. He highly recommended the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires... I dread having to buy tires for this car... My 17's in my other car were pricey enough. Anyone need a 05' Honda Accord Coupe EX-L NAVI? Its for sale.

Again - thank you all for helping me and also thanks for all the great posts on this forum. I can't tell you how many hours I have already spent reading posts.

Thanks

Bob

Michelin makes great tires. I've always switched all of my vehicles to Michelins. The Genesis is the first vehicle I haven't - Michelins didn't receive a very high comfort/noise rating for the performance tire. I went with the Bridgestone Serenity's.

I don't have any regrets from a performance standpoint on not getting the V8 -- the 0-60 times are not far off and the performance of the V6 is more than adequate for my needs. That said, I personally feel the V8 rides better. I didn't realize that pre-purchase as the dealer didn't have any V8's. I've since driven several and wish I'd opted for the V8 for the smoother ride alone. Hindsight is 20/20. :)

Congratulations, Bobby! Do post pictures to your album when you find the time!

I will get some pics once we get a nicer day.. It is all overcast today here in Indiana.. The red color sure shimmers in direct sunlight.

I just found today that one of the studs that hold the luggage net in the truck is stripped out. I was going to email the dealer and see if there is any remedy. Not sure if this is something covered under warranty, or if they will just say it is a used car and live with it. We shall see. (otherwise the net is worthless)

We went and got groceries today and definately needed something to keep everything from sliding around.

We had a bit of an emergency stop today.. Traffic all of a sudden stopped, and I was playing with the radio... (I normally am not so focused on the radio instead of driving - I absolutely promise.) My wife thankfully yelled at me, and we stopped in an instant. The brakes are very good in this car. Thank you Hyundai.

Per your Headlights: My HID are set a bit high, unlike others here that have theirs low. One of these days, I will reset them.

Per your Windshield Wiper Blades: Although many people say theirs are awful, mine are great. Every so often, I clean mine with Rain-X.

(Note: I do not use Rain-X on the windshield because once you use it, and it starts to wear off, the wipers start to bounce) (I only use Rain-X to clean the blades, and to clean the part of the windshield where the blade ends its up-stroke, where scum tends to form).

Alcohol should be ok to clean the blades, however the problem could be that there is scum on the windshield. What I would do is to clean both the blades and the windshield with a strong soap, to remove the scum. Perhaps even Alcohol would clean the scum from the windshield. I've never done it, but its probably better then strong soap. As for Rain-X (and other products like Rain-X), see the previous paragraph.

Lastly, ENJOY YOUR NEW RIDE.

What kind of wiper solution do you use? I have always used rainx brand in the past, and seems to keep my windshield clean - and doesn't chatter. I haven't put on a traditional rainx application on in several years - I admit.

I am going to find an excuse to take the car out for a drive this evening. Looking forward to it.

If by wiper solution, you mean washer fluid, I use anything I can find, even plain water. Nothing special.

Like I said above, once you start to use Rain-X on the whole windshield, you have to continue to use it, otherwise you get chatter as it starts to wear off, and it takes a long time to wear off.

I only use it to get the crud off the windshield only at the end of the up stroke of the blade. Alcohol would probably also clean that crud, although I've never used it.

As for the blades, I carry spares only in case a blade tears, or gets something stuck in it. Otherwise, I clean them with a clean cloth "soaked" with Rain-X. Keeps the rubber in great shape. With my 02 Continental, I have not changed blades since I bought the car in 04. They are still in great shape. (but I still have a spare set in the trunk).
