  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I confess... I am a bit of a (car) stalker...

Twice this weekend I came across Kia Stingers in parking lots, and I purposely parked next to or across from them (whichever was open). They really are beautiful cars in person, and photos don't really do them justice. Anyway I had this thought that the respective owners would come out before I did and see the G70 and have a bit of a laugh. Each time however I finished my shopping first and didn't encounter the owner. In one case, I took extra long in the parking space, using the moment to catch up on a couple of news items, and still missed the owner. This basically means I sat there in the parking lot stalking the owner, for at least 3-4 minutes anyway, I need help. Or even better I need to attend a Stinger or G70 meetup sometime soon.

I hear ya. I too try to make it "more likely" to meet up with G70 or Stinger owners but so far only 1!

I do find the Stinger owners avoid my G70... Not sure what the deal is there...

Yeah that's unfortunate. These cars are not far from Ford vs Mercury levels of component sharing; I essentially view them as the same car. I think, "Hey our cars are basically the same!"

The thing I don't like about the G70 is the rear!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I figure most Stinger owners are "in the know" and are car-savvy enough to know that the cars are platform-mates, but it's probably just wishful thinking.

I've seen a few Stingers around here in N Texas almost all the time.
And as soon as they see me in a Red G70 they seem to speed up and trying to get out of the way.
May be because they might think of us G70 owners who are a bunch of old farts?

Maybe they know it's the same platform but in a faster, better handling version 😁

Considering that Fords and Mercurys were basically indistinguishable from each other sheetmetal and interior-wise, think a better analogy would be like the relationship of platform/powertrain sharing btwn Ford and Mazda when Ford owned a similar stake in Mazda (as Hyundai currently does in Kia).

And while the 2 share the same basic architecture, they are technically on different platforms - the longer length of the Kia playing a significant role in why it's not as nimble as the G70.

I used to stalk car owners in parking lots..... particularly young, blonde female car owners......................

But that was before the court order............. sigh

I began my car search with the Stinger, but then someone suggested I look at the G70. While it’s true the Stinger might have fit my needs better (with me having dogs and it being a hatch), I couldn’t justify the price of the Stinger. For the same amount as a GT2 I could have a G70 Sport! I really do think Kia got the price wrong with the Stinger.

Now, if the Stinger 3.3t came with a manual......♥️

I hear you. The utility of the Stinger is fantastic, and I think it looks great. But, it seems *good* dealership service examples are substantially more rare than what we see with Genesis. Even so, even while waiting to find the exact color and trim G70 that I wanted, I found a few Stingers that were HEAVILY discounted, and it was really hard to say no to that car.

If the facelift Stinger can come with the new 3.5, and similar discounts can be had with it, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't seriously consider it to replace my G70...

As of right now, though, I'm mostly eyeing the upcoming RS3 refresh, and the new TLX Type S. But it seems all the cars I'd consider will come out around the same time (probably fall of next year) so I'll just have to test drive them all and go from there. First world problems. 😉

Keeping my car so when you’re ready to sell parts.... dm me! 😂

There are quite a few Stinger drivers in Phoenix but very few G70s. Yet when I see any Stingers on the road, they don't really acknowledge me at the moment. Maybe it doesn't matter, but I feel that they aren't aware the cars share the same platform.

Some people are clueless. They just buy the pretty blue one, or the red one.
