  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I don't want a Hyundai Genesis Sedan - but I might buy one if...

Please use this discussion to let Hyundai know what it would take to get YOU into a Genesis - even though you're not exactly fond of Hyundai or the Genesis as it is right now...

In other words.. What would you do to make it perfect for you?

1. Manual
2. Sports steering wheel
3. Sports package with 19" rims

I still might get one, but the automatic is a major problem for me!

Not that I'm saying it's wrong - but how many full-size luxury sports sedans come with a manual transmission? I'm thinking there's nothing like this available in the Lexus LS, Audi A8, BMW 7-Series or Mercedes S-Class... Right? Maybe AMG? For that matter, than we'd be asking for a much higher priced Hyundai Genesis.. No? I mean, considering the price of an AMG S-Class Mercedes...

Does AMG S comes with MT? I will only go for a MT when an MT is quicker than an AT. But these days twin clutches AT is proof to be a lot quicker than a professional racer driver to do a downshift with (yes with) Heel and toe... :D

That's one of the very few things I hate about America: America's addiction to the Automatic transmission.

If you are over in the UK or Europe, almost all luxury and standard cars come with a manual option (typically turbo diesel option too). Having lived over there for awhile I drove a few. The Genesis is my first car without MT for a long time. While I miss the shifting, my backup car with MT does quite nicely. I would opt for the MT if available but not a deciding factor ultimately for me. The manual option should actually cost less and give better fuel efficiency overall.

I really like the Genesis sedan but all wheel drive is a must for my next vehicle. I think Hyundai made a mistake in not offering an all wheel drive option on the Genesis sedan. This alone is the only reason why I will probably buy something else.

I totally agree with Bman, an AWD Genesis is what I'd have in my garage now if it were available. I've researched the internet for any information that hinted Hyundai's intention to offer AWD but nary a word to be found. Have any of you seen anything definitive. I'm hopeful for a mid-year release, but some word, any word that AWD would be going in 2010 would be great news.

I agree, and the lack of AWD almost kept me from getting my Gen... especially after 6 years in AWD VW Passats. Winter driving in a RWD had me paranoid, but now that I've adapted I'm OK with it. Shiftronic can be a beautiful thing!

Personally if you want AWD I sugges either an Audi or a Subaru. Those are really the best on the market. Otherwise a set of winter tires really does the trick. AWD adds additional weight to the vehicle and usually impacts the handling of the car. I wish they made the car drive more like a sports sedan since it is RWD.

Hyundai honored their words when they said luxury car priced under $30,000. They raised the price by $3000 but won't issue any rebates. Sorry Hyundai, I think a person's word should be their bond.

Where did they give their "word" that the price would be under $30,000? You should be able to get the base model for about $31,000 (plus TTL) after a little negotiating.

I would like to see the following:

1) The Nav deleted from the Tech Package and made a standalone option.
2) Adjustable suspension added to Tech Package (in place of Nav)
3) 17 speaker Lexicon made a standalone, dealer upgradable, option without Nav.
4) Bi-Xenon's made a standalone option.
5) Limited Slip Differential made standard on all Genesis (V6 and V8)
6) 18" wheels removed from all packages and made a standalone option.

This would give Hyundai better pricing and still allow dealers to install many options on location.

My 2 cents.

Consider using the V8 thats planned for the 2010 Equus with a 6 speed instead of the 8 speed thats being talked about for the 2010 Equus.

Tire pressure meter reading to dash.
Wider rubber for the V8 models. Same complaint for the upcoming Gen Coupe

TDI diesel 6 and 8.
Sportier seats. The present material is fine

Uhh, Hyundai never promised anything - they just stated that $30k was a possible goal price - which they would have reached if they hadn't decided to cancel offering the Genesis w/ the weaker V-6 engine.

Look how many times GM has changed the goal price of the Volt.

And yeah, AWD would be nice for those in snowy/hilly areas - but that's not going to happen until 2013 or so w/ the next gen Genesis (presently, Hyundai is still debating that).

As an owner, and new Hyundai convert. I would love to see the following in future generations...

Twin Clutch automatic.

More low end torque (amazing engine could be even better)..

paddle shifters in a sport package option....

multi-mode suspension (GM actually has the best version I have experienced)

adaptive cruise control (had been planned for this generation but dropped)

delete option for the wood treatment on the steering wheel (not all things Lexus should be copied)

option to program the key fob to auto unlock the doors via proximity (no door touch required)

remote start (nice for warming up in the cold winters)

passenger cool seat option

rear power seat options

rear door window power shades (like the rear window shade)
(kids like the shades on the Honda van)

true three zone HVAC

Yes, I am willing to pay more for these options...

Wouldn't mind seeing a full size spare with matching wheel. Although I know this is probably all about weight distribution, and maybe a small additional cost to build the vehicle.

The addition of more weight in the trunck by including a full size spare on matching wheel would actually help the weight distribution move more towards 50/50 although it would likely add a few pounds. I would like to see this too.

Unfortunately this is where you run into a problem. The Genesis is a budget luxury car so for people who converted from BMW, Lexus, etc. you will not get all of those bells and whistles your accustomed too. There's a reason why the Hyundai can be priced where it is versus where it's competitors are. For the price you cannot beat what the Genesis offers
