  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just got a new 2015 Genesis (had a 2012) and my salesman set it up for us. When I was pulling into the garage it was perfect but yesterday after "playing" with some buttons to see what they were, there were no lights coming on when I parked in the garage.
Is it the button in the center console? And - the red triangle - I notice that comes on occasionally by itself -I thought that was for the hazard lights!
The 501 page manual is NOT the best and I couldn't find answers there.
Thanks so much.

The button for the park assist is on the center console near the heated/cooled seat controls. There will be a small blue light when park assist is on. Mine is in the lower-left corner, but I believe it can be in a slightly different location based on options.

The red triangle in the center of the dash between the clock and the nav screen is for the hazard lights.

By "no lights" coming on when you enter the garage, do you mean your headlights? If so, your headlight switch (left stalk on the steering column) is probably in the OFF position, which disables the auto headlights and the DRLs (in the USA). Taking this switch to AUTO will enable your auto headlights and DRLs.

My 'Park Assist' is located at the end of my arms and either side of my nose. :D

So looking at the index in the manual and clearly seeing that the Parking Assist System is on page 3-127 and then reading that detailed section (which would have answered all your questions) makes the manual NOT the best? Really?

At the risk of annoying my American colleagues, may I ask this?
I know American cars are not fitted with the Auto parking system, and it's something I have not yet played with, but would it be possible to auto park the car into the garage? I'm very aware of how much width clearance there is when entering the garage, and maybe this system would ensure I have equal clearance either side, and minimise the possibility of damaging the car.

Forgive me - I am 91 years young..

Phil, welcome to the forums, and I hope you get to enjoy this wonderful new car and all of it's features for a long time. I'm only half your age, and an engineer, but this car has so many features it's hard to keep track of everything.

If you can, put a pdf copy of the manual on your computer. Then, you can do a word search using ctrl+F - makes finding items a lot easier.

And the snarky comments? Usually made by people who aren't aware of how little they know.

I do have a PDF on my computer BUT I cannot locate the Navigation System Manual - anyone have a link to that?

This is an option we do not have here is the states.:D Can't answer that question but I wouldn't trust a computer to park a car in the garage. Just my 2 cents.

Snarky? I'm the only one who actually pointed to the exact part of the manual he needs to read.

Look - a claim was made that "the manual is NOT the best" when the info in question is well very described in the manual. In fact, the manual is VERY comprehensive for most things - if you bother to spend more than 30 seconds looking through the index.

It's one thing to say you could not find the info you were looking for, but silly to then say that the manual is not helpful...

I doubt it , but I'd ask Hyundai directly? As the park assist is likely looking at the distance/clearance on each side, it might have issue with the restricted opening at the garage door that then gets wider as the car moves in? Try it and let us know if it works :D

By Parking Assist the manufacturer means the Parking Sensors feature, not the Smart Parking Assist feature (SPAS).
So Phil, please look for one "P" button with little triangle in the central console between the arm rest and the shifting gear set.

I back into my garage and it is so tight that the parking assist system goes berserk - I half expect it to break into the Star Trek battle station sound. :-) I wind up with about 3" of clearance on the passenger side, next to a large oil tank.

I doubt that any sane automatic system would attempt it. As a human I am able to do it easily with the lowered rear view mirrors and the backup camera - I still have all my paint!

I've attached a picture with the button circled in red. It may be in a slightly different location on your car depending on options. For example, on cars with the heated steering wheel, I believe the heated steering wheel button is in this location and the park assist button is on the other side. Your console may also look a little different depending on whether you have the jog dial.
