  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I got a Genesis today!

Gonna have to differ with 'ya on this one...1 more vote on the enthusiast side here. In fact, in the future I hope they offer a sport model (AMG, BMW M, Audi S, etc.). Maybe something w/19's, slightly lowered with a little more aggresive suspension, and some mild (subtle) aerodynamics. Hopefully available w/v6 or v8. Hmmmmmmmm....tasty!

Wassup everybody, I'm new to the forum and literally just sat here and read all 7 pages of this thread, lol, i test drove a genesis the other day, and then went back to test drive it again, lol, just make sure I wasn't hyping anything up the first time... The car is amazing, i like the interface of the tech package, its very similar to the Infiniti M series with teh screen, and the center console with teh control functions right there are similar to the audi A6 and A8, both of which I really like... To put into prespective this car has everything I liked about other cars and its actually in a comfortable price range...

I'm gonna go ahead and pick up the v6 with the tech package as soon as I sell my car... I'm gonna get the same thing as jwaters except i will go ahead and pay for the tech package, lol, i don;'t know why tho, I just bought a sprint mogul and i have like 3 programs that do navi, and talk to me and everything, lol, but i figure if I like this car so much i might as well go all out...... RIGHT....

One thing i didn;t see in the forum was regarding the warranty, what kind of warranty did you get and did u have to pay anything extra for it???

The only downside to the car is............ IMO............. it has the iPod conenction instead of a universal or a """ZUNE"""" connection, lol, I am all the way against anything "i", but thats another forum...

BUt yea man let us know about the warranty thing, i know they advertise 10yr 100,000 mile, but how was ur experience with that side of things...

Hello and welcome to the boards ModernMogul.

Atleast they offer the USB port as well which is what I will be using for MP3 play.

The 10/100 covers powertrain only, and only for the first owner. In the past it's been possible to pay extra to make this transferable.

All owners get 5/60 bumper to bumper.

Bumper to Bumper is somewhat of a misnomer. Note the 'fine print':

Adjustments - 1yr/12k
A/C refrig charge - 1yr
Paint - 3yr/36k
Radio, Tape Deck, CD/DVD, NAV system, Bluetooth - 3yr/36k
Battery - 3yr

So, I guess all the hypes and wait were worth it, and all the positive reviews from the big presses like Car and Driver and all were true. 25 MPG is really good for the car of that size and the engine size of 3.8(which my GP also has). My GP gets 18/27, so I guess it's pretty similar in that.

I was highly doubtful if Genesis were good enough of all of its hypes and wonderred if it will win any American luxury car buyers, and thought it will only appeal to the few percentage of Korean Americans, but if the car is that good enough, I guess it MAY win some non-Korean customers I guess who used to shop the likes of Toyota Avalon or Honda Accord.

Was the dealer treatment any different than any other Hyundai models? since a lot of people are wonderring that for the Genesis, which should be treated differently for its customers than their lower level models for it is considerred a large, luxury sedan.

Actually, most Korean-Americans buy Japanese cars because they drove and saw nothing but Hyundai's when they were living in Korea. I guess they wanted a change or something. I have 6 Korean friends and only 3 of them own a Hyundai; one owns a 1994 Jeep Cherokee, he doesn't really care about cars. I did see a Korean drive a white Genesis the other day.

Have been remiss in posting since I picked up my Genesis almost 7 weeks ago. Mine is a Black V6 with Tech.

Honestly, it's a fabulous car. It handles right between the looser Lexus and the tighter Infiniti/BMW cars. As my last was an Infiniti M35 - I do like the softer ride and not feeling every bump in the road.

Just crossed 2K miles without any issues and in fact the car performs better now than before. Even gas mileage is up. Highway (I did a 2 hour commute to a trade show last week for 3 days) mileage was 28 and that was using regular unleaded, AC on and doing between 80 and 100 mph. In town I seem to be around 18 with a blend coming in around 22-23 for normal driving.

XM as always is great and the integrated traffic info in the Nav is helpful.

The neatest surprise feature is the bluetooth phone. Once you program a phone number into the console and type in the name - you can dial it by voice without having to train it. The car also says the name you want to dial. It also has superior voice recognition over most other cars in its class and many don't even know your talking on a speaker phone when you are in the car - cannot say that about my old Infiniti.

Wish it had automatic tire pressure guage on instrument dial, cooled passenger seat. Other than that - it's been a great car so far.

David - be sure to program in 1-800-466-4411. By far the best information number you can call, and it's FREE :)

(It's Google's directory service)

Thanks for posting your impressions.

One upside to leaving off a few features at intro--for Hyundai: they can add features a few at a time to help justify the inevitable price increases, and to give current buyers a reason to trade.

They're probably hoping to do what Lexus did with the LS. In just four or five model years (and I think four) the base price went from $35,000 to $50,000.
