  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

When you drain the oil you do not get it all out. That half liter is in the sump and spread around all the other components of the engine. Go by the marks on the dipstick

Not familiar with Molygen so cannot comment.

Oil capacity on the 2018 G80 Sport 3.3 is 7.29 quarts. I've done about 6 oil changes and generally replace/fill with about 6.9 quarts of oil.
There is a a thread on oil changes here. Your results above are comparable to what I see.

Short of tearing down engine you'll never get ALL of the oil out of the engine.

On a similar note, anyone know where I can get a longer dipstick? Mind does not reach the oil any more.

So, your stick got shorter as it aged? Hate it when that happens...

I've read on this forum that some check their oil right after running the engine and it reads high. I would wait at least five minutes to let is drain down a bit and then check it, and again after an hour if you can wait. My 3.8 needs 7.5 quarts but I can't get that much in. As EdP said, follow the dipstick.

Regarding type of oil, I would use what's specified in the manual. The molygen oils are used in German cars and meet the ACEA A3 & B4 spec, you need A5. I wouldn't drain it out, but would switch to the recommended oil.

What year is your G80, a '17?
