Its not crap, its just not made for that. youre trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

Get a TCU tune and see how it performs.
 
Tranny is still inferior to its competitors, that are also not designed to be track cars..

I've tried 240 and I bet some random 328 would still have its tranny perform better.

You are all simply supporting cost cutting and ignoring flaws that other cars do not have because: "well I don't need it!"

Flaw? If i does everything I need, everything designed for, it is not a flaw.

Just as your KitchenAid mixer is great for cakes it is not a flaw that it does not mix concrete well.

In your case, you either have to buy a car built for the track or accept what is available but I think you'd rather take your own flawed perspective.

There is no doubt that using an inhouse transmission as opposed to a ZF allowed Genesis to sell the car at such an attractive price. I don't think anyone is questioning that.

However, with that aside, this is a really good tranny...it's fast, it's smooth, it's tuned well.

The only criticism you've provided that seems to be accurate is that this car will probably have issues doing 20 laps around a track. And that brings the discussion back to what everyone else has been telling you: that's not what this car is meant for.

Not being able to do 20 laps =/= the tranny is inferior to its competitors.

It's not that fast, and competitors are smooth as well. But they also perform better at tougher conditions, thus G70 tranny is inferior.
"Almost just as good if you don't drive hard" is inferior in my eyes..

In comparison to KitchenAid, if one mixer can mix for 2 hrs while kitchenware can only mix for 5 minutes, its inferior, even if it's "not designed to run for 2 hrs". I could buy industrial mixer, but this does not somehow make Kitchenaid superior or equivalent to the industrial mixer...

And I didn't think saying "tranny is crap" is equivalent to "gtfo if you don't like this!"

I recall seeing a chart comparing the G70 transmission shift speeds to the ZF. They were very close with the G70 being faster in the 2-3 and the ZF faster in all the other gear changes but as someone said that is just programming. To me the most important part is how well it drives and my G70 transmission is really great. Seems to know what I want, which is due to the adaptives.

I will say this car's computers are very much slanted towards protection, so I could see things changing when temperatures are not in the ideal ranges (high or low). The ECU and TCU communicate to protect at all times. I suppose this is to make give the components the best chance at lasting for the 10 year warranty.

Lozic has a TCU tune that changes the transmission to feel much more DSG like. For some that may be what they want and others not so much. Not everyone will have the same likes.

Are there other performance metrics that you would like to use? If one product can has A, B and C while another has only A and B, its inferior.
The only other metric that I would consider is price, in which is obviously better, maybe reliability... but performance is not there.
Having a better tranny in G70, in my eyes, would make G70 become superior to its competitors in every way. This is the last component that is missing. Sure, "this car is not designed for the track", but so what?

No, that is perfectly sound logic. I could repeat it with 100 different examples. I'm sure you've heard this one before: you do not judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree. You do not compare things based on what they're not intended to do.

What if it was 1 lap before it starts to overheat? Would that be bad or still acceptable? MECHANICALLY its an inferior product (or electronically if TCU tune fixes it, which I doubt since safety features were put there for a reason).

i can tell you havent driven the lower end bmws much just by this...

the 3 series bmws need tranny tunes to make them not trash for tracking. But again, they arent track cars so why would they get a performance tranny

340i has ZF ..
they call the 340 a sports sedan too and its not.

as for the 340i and the ZF, it needs a tune to change shift points and decrease shift speed if you want it to act like an actual performance transmission. As it sits with stock software, its designed for longevity and smoothness while sacrificing performance, similar to what the stock software on the g70 is.
