  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have to say it, the G70 needs a new transmission ASAP

Man, shut up. Just shut up. You are ruining this site. People like you are argumentative jerks, you just like to argue and you are never wrong, no matter how idiotic and logic-free your current argument is. This is no longer about any transmission, it's just about your ego, you were shown to be wrong a while back, and every single pair of eyes here (besides yours) knows that this transmission is excellent and responsive. There is no argument to be had here, no discussion left, just the sound of your one hand clapping in a forrest full of downed trees that no one heard, or cared about. Please go darn your socks for no one elsewhere.
No, you shut up ignorant piece ... I've added my opinion agreeing with the original poster, so clearly it's more than one person.
People like you are the ones who are ruining shit. Instead of a civil discussion just keep yelling "you are wrong and stupid!". If you don't like this thread, gtfo and read something else.

If you are satisfied with your car and never do anything besides going know a highway, good for you. You clearly can't tell a difference between good engineering and mediocrity good enough for average consumer. You are that average consumer. People here are clearly not car enthusiasts, they are average consumers.

If you don't like arguing about valid topics feel free to stop reading.
I have a valid point about performance of this transmission on the track. If you don't track your car, good for you, neither do I because transmission sucks.
Plain and simple, this "sports sedan" G70 has a shitty transmission.
Car is being advertised as a sports sedan that is better than others. You don't feel like it's a sports sedan, you are stupid. Genesis themselves say this is a sports sedan. Competition has a tranny that you can track with, G70' you can't.

You might not need this feature, I don't give a shit. Go drive a Sonata like a grandpa. The only feature that this car is missing, that would make it THE BEST, is a better tranny.

Argumentative jerks are the one who keep telling me to "shut up" and "gtfo". Notice how I never said anything rude until now?
I'm posting pages from reputable reviewers, but all you can answer is that somehow your fEeLinGs are HurT.
"bad man on the internet said that my car has a bad tranny, I'm going to tell him to shut up!"

Might be time to let this one ⚰️.

Yer an ignorant dumb fvck. Just f’ing leave.

You sound like a lefty whiner. Whoever has a different opinion than you has to leave?

Question is why are YOU still here? Thread name is:

I have to say it, the G70 needs a new transmission ASAP

Everyone here is welcome to engage in logical and well reasoned debate. You simply aren't doing this. That is why you're being told to f$%k off. No one is asking you to leave because of your opinion. Some of us have chosen to entertain your downright idiotic arguments in the hope that you'd realize how flawed your arguments are.

If you can't see this then there's really nothing anyone here can do to help you. You're not a child, we're not here to copy/paste and show you where you display a lack of the most basic logical reasoning and deduction.

It is clear now that there's nothing forum members can say that will change your opinion. Similarly, there's nothing you can say moving forward that will change this forums opinion of you for the better.

That's why it's probably best to just move on.

i dunno, i have thousands of hours on the track between drag, road and drifting, and can tell you are the dude that shows up to the track with a car not made for the track, and then complains when youre not putting down times that people with actual track cars are putting down.

and again, i think you are misunderstanding sports sedan. Its a sports sedan like the 3 series is a sports sedan. ffs a camry, maxima and civic are called sports sedans. Its nothing more than a marketing ploy to get people like you to buy it because you dont understand what it actually is. its not a performance sedan, its not a track sedan, its a sedan that is sporty. If you want a true sports sedan, get an m3.

as for being car enthusiasts, id say anyone that joined an online car forum is an enthusiasts. just because they dont go to the track every weekend, or build crazy high hp track builds, doesnt mean they arent.

As for performance on the track, theres a lot of other things i would complain about from a pure tracking standpoint before the transmission. Suspension, braking, seats, weight distribution, hell even the stock tires. The tranny is down on the list because, as ive mentioned, ive had/driven quite a few of the cars on your list of zf trannies, and in most cases, unless its a performance car, it needs tuning at a minimum to be a good track tranny. Could the g70 do with some transmission tuning? yes. Is that something I will do? most likely. Will i take this to the track? no. I have a dedicated car for that, and anyone who is serious about tracking does the same.

I don't have thousands of hours, but I went steady for the last 5 years or so with a dedicated track car.

I couldn't consider Maxima a direct competitor to G70. Would you consider 340i as one?

Is 340i built for the track? No. Can you take it to the track without having major issues? I assume so, but as stated on my first post, I've had experience with 240i with identical engine and tranny and it behaved well.
Is G70 built for the track? No. Does its engine compare well to 340i? Yes. Does it have a decent suspension? Yes-ish, and it can be replaced. Does it transmission compare well to 340i? No, no it does not. Simple as that.

I'm happy that you still have a dedicated track car.
Would you be happy for others if Genesis would use a better performing transmission on G70s so people who no longer have dedicated track cars can still go to the track? Apparently no.

The maxima isnt because it doesnt have all the features as the g70. but that doesnt change the fact that nissan calls it a sports sedan. which is my point. sports sedan =/= performance sedan.

yes ive driven a 340 at the track. no it doesnt perform well at the track.

im a believer that the g70 needs transmission tuning more than anything. the current software is limiting it, but there is no reason that after tuning, changing shift points, shift speed and removing some of the safety, it will perform well. the 340 needs that done to it to get it to perform well, as do most of the non-m bmws. As it sits currently, id put it on par with the 340 stock transmission. There is a reason there are so many bmw 3 series transmission tuning solutions.

That's why I wasn't comparing Maxima. I was comparing the actual competitors to G70, such as 340.

I respect your opinion but I'd say its inferior to 340 stock transmission, as in my personal experience, it performed much worse.

im not comparing anything to a maxima, simply pointing out that sports sedan doesnt mean what you think it means

There is no definition of a "sports sedan", is an opinion.
Nissan might claim that we are both wrong and Maxima is a sports sedan.

But we are comparing G70 to 340, not to maxima. Thus, I've said in my first post, in my opinion, transmission is the "its ok for daily, its crap for anything more".
Even if it's designed this way on purpose, doesnt change the fact that it is.
You can take 340 to the track, you can't take G70 because of its transmission.
With a better transmission you could, simple as that. Should you? Probably no, but it doesn't change the fact that current transmission is inferior to 340 in this regard.

Being inferior, even if you accept that premise, doesn't make it crap! That's the part you seem determined to miss.
The only way your thread makes any sense is if you add the words "for track use" on the end of the title that you chose, since that's all you're talking about.
It also needs better brake pads, better tires, stiffer springs and bars, etc, etc... for track use. Let it go dude.

^ Not even his thread. He's just trolling.

That is what I've said.....

It's OK for everyday driving but for anything more... its crap.

The part that everyone else seems to miss is "for anything more" 🤷‍♂️
Somehow wanting a better performing tranny is offensive to everyone here.

Car and Driver thinks otherwise "Luxury rarely has a place on a racetrack, but the Genesis G70 seems to fit in just fine at VIR."

If they put 365Hp for driver to use, they could have but a better tranny for driver to use as well.. they didnt to save money.. or maybe to practice their inhouse development. But definitely not to impress everyone with superiority, because its not there.
You clearly don't have an idea of what it takes to track a car. I have tracked many cars, built specific for tracking, and the g70 isn't one of them. Regardless of what the dopes at car and driver think. I have a Camaro SS, that's designed to track. My g70 will be a daily driver.

So, are you saying if this car had a better/sportier transmission you would have no problem tracking the car? If that's your claim, you have never been on a track, or never pushed a car to the edge on a track. There's way more to it than the tranny. If I was gonna track this car, I would want better everything. Better brakes, high temp brake fluid, transmission cooler, differential cooler, supplemental engine coolant cooler, steel tire pressure monitors just for starters.

That is what I've said.....

"Wanting" a better tranny (presumably for track use) doesn't mean it's crap and needs to be replaced ASAP. Don't you see the difference?

Incorrect..
..
Is G70 built for the track? No....

And yes, I do go to the track, and I've taken G70 as well.

Point is, 340 you can take to the track to have fun, G70 you cannot because it won't run..

Comparing to the competition, G70 has crappy tranny..

He doesn't. I don't think he's mentally capable of seeing the difference. Even if he was, it's clear he doesn't want to see the difference.

I take my previous comment about him not being a child back. I'm now convinced that he is. Everything just points in the direction of this being a young kid that has a very limited understanding of cars and will do everything in his person to not admit when he's wrong.

It's impossible to argue against someone whose arguments are so fundamentally flawed.

He's not going to stop. It's not worth it anymore. We tried and we failed. He's probably sitting at his computer jacking off to the thought of being able to rile up this forum.

At this point I have nothing left to say but honestly kid just f$%k off.
