  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have trouble with being able to see over front hood due to eyesight and height. I haven’t driven GV70 yet and looking for input on this question.

I am a female, 5’4” inches and have a depth perception problem with my right eye. I haven’t driven the GV70 yet and was hoping for input on this issue. My current 2021 Volvo XC40 is working well for this problem as I can raise the seat really high and it helps with this problem. Is this seat adjustment feature available on the GV70? Thanks

Well, this is the G70 forum, not the GV70. But I can tell you we test-drove one yesterday, to decide between one of those or the Santa Fe Calligraphy, and the SF is WAY better inside, including visibility. Plus you'd have to spend $17K+ on a GV to have the same features (Nappa quilted leather, HUD, pano moonroof, etc). And my wife was very disappointed how much the screen blocked the view, and how high the hood was, and then sloping down out of view. That didn't bother me that much, since I sit higher than her (5' 6" and 5'10", respectively), but the GV just felt like an old person's vehicle, starting with the steering wheel. Ha ha. The SF feels much sportier, and the ergos are way better too. What also infuriated my wife was the rotary selector. I'd look at the SF Calligraphy if I was you. Or better yet, drive both, like we did, and decide for yourself :). Hope this helps.

The other half is 5'1". No issues with driving or visibility.

Obviously I'm biased but compared to elp_jc's experience, we have no issues with visibility. The Santa Fe and GV70 are built on completely different platforms with fundamentally different ideas on how and why they are built. Transverse vs longitudinal engine (shorter hood, longer hood), front vs rear bias AWD system, practicality/family vs performance/luxury focus. Other than being both SUVs made by Hyundai Motor Company, they aren't very similar.

Indeed. Wanted wife to drive both, to see which one she liked. To be honest, I assumed I'd like the GV70 way more since it's RWD-based, but that wasn't the case. Expected it to look and feel sportier inside, but that wasn't the case. I felt old. Ha ha. It drove nicer than the SF to me (same engine), but not by much. And the tranny on the SF is superior (a dual-clutch 8-sp unit that shifts awesome). My wife liked the SF way more inside in every respect (Nappa, ergos, design, feel, etc), but the GV70 on the outside. But she said she'd choose the SF even at the same price, and to get nappa, HUD, full digital dash, etc., it'd be almost 20 grand more for the top trim, with the hideous wheels, and no full leather (part Alcantara, which she doesn't like), so it was a no-brainer. But the G70 was also a no-brainer compared to its competition, so bought both at the same time. Ha ha. Looking forward to get both in the next 10 days.
