  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I made the right choice.

I've been lurking the Genesis for a while now ever since the Gen2 released. Finally pulled the trigger last Thursday 06/09/16 on a 15 Genesis 5.0 Ultimate Package with 25 miles in Casablanca White. They didn't have any 16s 5.0 or they just did not bother looking, so I took the $10,000 off deal. I've finally acquired an amazing daily driver to put the 'racecar' to rest for track use/fun weekend/I need the thrill drives. I have not met any 'enthusiast' Genesis driver yet but you guys seem like a fun bunch. I had the dealership install the Genesis badge in the rear as part of the deal so that's a first mod!

Mods to come:

1) Front license plate delete; looking for better mounting positions.
2) Dashcam probably buying another Blackvue since its been good to me.
3) Exhaust. Looking to do a cutout system since I love the quietness right now.

That's it for now. Not really looking into doing much on this car. Enjoy these ugly pictures for some reason I did not realize that it was out of focus on the rear pic. Also, I had to post a URL because the sizing was as big as the car to fit on the thread. More to come later!

Nice choice and color!

Welcome to the club! What was the final price out the door, if you don't mind me asking?

Also, there is no 5.0 in the 2016 model. It looks like 2015 is the last chance for the 5.0. You can check it out with the 'Build Your Own' option on the Hyundai site. Sad but true. :(

I've been happy with my G2 3.8 Ultimate over the past year but wonder if the improved response from a 5.0 ( the V6 certainly hesitates in all 3 driving modes) would make me forget about having to use premium fuel for poorer mileage.......
....have many of you made the switch to the V8 and not looked back? Mine being a 3 yr lease, I'll wait until 2018 anyway......
Thanks.

I envy you man! I could not find any ultimates in 5.0. I even considered Sage Hyundai but their website did not have any ultimate trim in 5.0, guess it is always better to visit the dealer and check out because I have seen almost all dealers are stupid or ignorant enough not to know what they have in stock. I had to tell the dealers if they see the controller knob or not. If it is there, it is ultimate but they did not know that. I zeroed in on 5.0 base but wish you always wish for more! :)

Really pleased with the car and loving it! You will sure love it even more!

I can't say I endorse that description. The V6 doesn't "hesitate" but like any normally aspirated engine it needs to rev out to make its best power (or more specifically, torque). I drove the V8 back to back with the V6 multiple times (very indulgent dealer) and while the V8 felt stronger overall, it didn't feel vastly stronger, and still needed to make revs to really hustle. If you need that immediate right-NOW push, you need to go turbo. Those motors make peak torque just off idle. Turbo lag is a lot less of a noticeable issue than rev lag. It's why just about every competitor to the Genesis offers turbo power. And why the G80 will likely offer the same.

As for me, in a world gone turbo everything, I like the way a good n/a V6 delivers power. And this is a very good V6.

The V8 is a great motor as well, but I find my car to be every bit as heavy and as thirsty as I would want it to be. And I have more than enough power to get myself into serious trouble around town or on the highway.

Sometimes (a lot of times LOL) I wish I went with V8, but the V6 was less and still drove much faster than my Sonata. Duh.

When the next gen comes out, I'm hoping for a few trades to show up at my dealer....maybe I can work a great deal on a low mile 5.0.

a lot of the 2015s are sold and many used 2015s are getting bought.

the prices IMO have firmed up.

i think hyundai will have more control over the quantity of available 2016 and 2017s to hold price.

It was $44k before tax. Ah, in that case I'm very happy with my buy!

Which knob are you speaking of? Basically the only thing missing is the HUD in my car. But I have all the options that comes in the Ultimate except for the HUD. Sorry for the confusion!

good find. i would swicth to the 5.0 but i am unable to find something i like that is not a loaner car or has less then 30 miles on it.

Where are you located? They were a couple more 5.0s If I'm not mistaken at Sage Hyundai.

The G90 is coming soon too so I'd wait if I were you :)

Without HUD you don't have the Ultimate trim, you have the base 5.0. Sage was quoting me $14,000 off MSRP but I ended up going to Carson and getting mine at $38,500 for the base 5.0 as it is a bit closer to me. Either way still a great car.

By knob I mean the rotary controller. In 5.0 base, you just get touchscreen, not the rotary controller. In ultimate, you get:

Rotary controller
9.2" HD screen
Continuous Damping Suspension
Powered trunk with a button on the trunk that closes it
HUD
