  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2013 Genesis sedan. I was replacing the wiper blades starting on the passenger side. I pulled up the wiper arm at the joint and i felt the pivot start to turn and the driver side arm start moving up. I thought maybe I had to move them all the way to the top of their swing so I kept moving the arm until both were up. After replacing the blades I turned on the car and the wipers expecting them to go down. Unfortunately they just slightly wiggle. I turned off the wipers and the car and tried to force them back down manually but they don't move. So now they are stuck in the up position. Does anyone know how I can fix them on my own?

Is this the first time you've replaced them?
On the 2015 you have to hold the wiper switch up - with the car off - to make them go up automatically so you can change them

It's been a long time since I replaced them. We bought it used. I'm holding the wiper switch up and nothing is happening.

We bought the car used and I may have changed them once before a long time ago. Thank you for the instructions! I held the switch up after turning the car on and back off and the wipers moved down and then back up to the service position. I was afraid that I was going to have to deal with them being reversed. Fortunately though, I then turned the wipers on and off they came to a stop at the bottom like they should. Crisis averted!

Feels good to see a crisis averted in such a short thread!

Forcing the wipers to move by hand may do Bad_Things(TM) to them.

This method is the same for all 2009 through at least 2012 cars (and likely up to present day):

1. Key on (start button twice but with foot OFF the brake).
2. Key off.
3. Hold wiper stalk up for 3 or more seconds.

Wipers will move to maintenance position.
