  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Wifey refuses to tell me how the tan rear seat in her 2010 collapsed. Why it happened is not as important to me as how to fix it. I removed the rear seat cushion, then left the car out in the rain, to determine if it was caused by a persistent water leak in the car. The following day, no water was present in the floorboard. The seating material appears to have shrunk, and the frame appears to have collapsed. It's an obvious problem, but I'm not sure of the solution. I can get a seat from a local boneyard for a couple hundred dollars, but I don't have any interchangeability reference. Can anyone assure me of the tan rear seat compatibility range?

Good news: my 2009 4.6 shop manual and my 2012 4.6 shop manual both show identical pages for the rear seat install removal (2 bolts for the seat, 4 for the backrest).

Bad news: the 2012 4.6 also doesn't show heated rear seat option but does show the rear audio control (a non-US feature).

So size-wise you're probably OK. Consider that an automotive upholsterer can probably get you quite well-sorted for maybe a hundred or so more than you'll pay at that boneyard. Part of that extra is them worrying about fitment.

Thank you for your response. It seems obvious that the rear seats from 09 to 14 should interchange, but I can't verify it will happen until I do the swap. I swapped out the seats in my blue DH after the motorcycle impact incident, with no obvious problem.
I ordered a tan set from a regional boneyard whose name sounds like a bird being reborn. They advertised a local site almost next door to CoPart, but the call center is near Maxwell House in Jacksonville. It should be onsite by Friday. I will pick it up and attempt the swap this weekend. It appears that I will be the test case on this.

I ended up with two sets, a 2012 with heat and a 2010. The 2012 was severely abused by the yard, had mildew to the point it was black, not tan. The Fenix salesman promised me another one, which arrived indented because the steel frame was poking the leather. The seller lashed the steel to the leather instead of leather to leather. It also was discolored, mildewed and dirty, but with the three sets now available to me, I matched one seat set together. I learned where not to buy seats. They did not emerge from the ashes. both sets were covered with ash. We cleaned them for hours, threw the excess foam in the landfill and kept the undamaged leather in a Roughneck container in the barn. We will then have extra seat material if we ever need it again. The seats are not leather, but the main two seating panels are. They are extremely well built. I never want to do this again.
