Hello, I am DK of Car Scene Korea, Youtube.

I got to know of the forum via my video on GV80,
I got so much attention from the forum that I never got before,
and came here, got back and forth with members answering questions that you just couldn't figure out behind the monitor.

Being in Korea, I can get my hands-on any Genesis quicker than the States as you all know.

Let me be your get-to youtuber to answer any question in relations to newly released Genesis.
My previous GV80 vid and thread can be found here:
or vid should you care.

Enough said,

I will be driving the 2021 All-new G80 in a few days, March 31st to be exact.
I will have the car to myself for a good solid 2 hours with a long distance drive out to rural cities from Seoul.

If you have ANY questions in relations to this 2021 All-new G80, comment below and I sure will get back to you with video and answer.
As we all know, world premiere is on 30th, and I get to drive the car in 31st,
it will take some good amount of time after the event is over for me to get back to G80, so be sure to leave ANY question you have.

Thanks!

DK

Hey DK -

Would surmise that what many would want to know is how the handling and performance (not sure if you'll get the drive both new gasoline engine variants or will be limited to the inline diesel) compared to the German competition (5 Series, etc.) and the outgoing G80.

Specifically, if the new lighter-weight platform pays sufficient dividends in those regards.

Another thing would be comparing the level of interior appointment w/ that of the competition and maybe the F/L G90 (as we know it's clearly going to be a good bit more luxurious than the outgoing G80).

One specific thing is to check and see if all the "metal" switch-gear, paddle shifters, design accents, etc. are made of real metal as opposed to painted-plastic (the G90 still has a few buttons that are painted-plastic).

I'll put the rest of the questions in bullet-form.

- Which body panels are made of aluminum (assuming that will have several aluminum parts like the GV80)?

- Did Genesis reduce the wheelbase (like they did for the GV80) compared to the outgoing G80?

- How's the headroom in the rear?

- What will be the difference in the available Continental sourced 3D digital cluster w/ the 3D cluster in the G70? (Can you clarify as to where that 3D cluster is sourced from - Mobis?)

And last but not least, can you ask if Genesis will be doing EV variants of their existing lineup (as they have registered for trademarks for eG80, eG90, etc.) or if they will be doing a separate EV lineup as has been previously stated (hence, the confusion).

Genesis previously stated that they won't be doing any sort of electrification (including hybrids) on their ICE models (and that they instead, would directly leap-frog to EVs w/ a separate lineup).

Personally, think not doing hybrids (even if a 48V system) is a mistake; a 48V system should be the default battery system (you should tell them that).

And any indication as to the entry-level coupe (GT70)?

Or has Genesis decided that there isn't sufficient ROI for a 2-door and have basically replaced that w/ the 3rd (EV) crossover?

Totally understand if Genesis is mum on these questions re future products.

Btw, have enjoyed your videos and keep up the good work!

Wow. Thank you for the comment!
I will go over all your questions and I'll try my best finding answers to them.

The silhouette looks sleeker. Is it an entirely new body shape, or just the effect of trim or photo angle?

Would be interesting to know what about the new interior will start to flow to the other models. That is, will we get the new dash and center stack in the G70 before they update the exterior?

I will be watching this extremely closely. Really want to see of that AR HUD tech is ready.

Hi DK of Car Scene Korea, thank you for taking the time to do this. I have four requests, if possible.

1.) Could you please record the power door closure (soft close doors/ghost closing doors), from the inside of the car, please? Most reviewers show it from the outside—which is fine—but it would be nice to hear and see it from the inside.

2.) Could you please show the illuminated blind spot symbol in the mirror? It appears in most videos that the symbol has changed to red. A close view to confirm this would be appreciated.

3.) If possible, can you let us hear the startup chime/door ajar and or hood release chimes? It appears the Genesis models have new chimes.

4.) If possible, can you show the third brake light illuminated? I understand you will need another person for this, so if not that’s OK.

Thank you. 🙂

I have a question and a comment. Question: Will it be a G80 Sport again? And when?

And the comment, and hope you don't take it the wrong way, is why does everybody making that kind of video has the urge to put music? It's ultra annoying. And if I can't convince you not to do it, at least don't use the even more annoying repetitive kind like on the GV80 video on post #1. I had to stop watching it at the minute mark, since I had enough :D. Just a friendly suggestion. Thx.

Find out what you can about the diesel. Would love to get one here in the States.
thx bthor

I can only give you info I can collect with a physical car such as features, materials, etc., but I'll be driving GV80 there, so I should be able to tell what design flow and signature both vehicles share, and Genesis to come in the future, hopefully!

Thank you for the request, I really am. Last thing I want is spend this precious time with G80 and spend it all for nothing just recording exteriors and whatnot. I WANT requests like these so that I can deliver information that no other Youtubers make and miss out on. Please add some more if you have any! Love the questions, brilliant!

Nothing taken the wrong way. I've been in the business and can differentiate pointless bs to thoughtful feedback. Thanks! Simply put, as u stated it is that urge to throw some music lol. Was still learning at this time, and was new to making review vids. Still learning. My recent vid has no bgm and just plain white noises.
More often, bgms cover up unwanted background noise that I just cant get rid of, and sometimes I have to mute the entire video due to music being played at the venue due to copyright issues. There are many reasons, but your feeeback is much appreciated. I'll make a good note of it!

Automaker usually don't do extensive make-overs for both the exterior and interior (only done in rare cases) and from what we have seen in spyshots of the F/L G70 (and the Stinger for that matter), doesn't seem that the G70 will be getting the new horizontal dash design.

A larger (10.25") screen for the tablet nav system and the addition of a digital gauge cluster (remains to be seen which one) for the top trims seem to be the major changes.

Second asking if there will be a G80 Sport or something akin to that.

Doubt that they will offer any specs, but maybe they'll be willing to say whether the engine (assuming the 3.5TT) will be reworked for more power (have indicated that both the 2.5T and 3.5TT are capable of offering a good bit more power than what's available in the GV80).

And the chances of us getting the I6 diesel is pretty much nil.

I have a fifth request, haha. Could you please show the sound of the parking sensors? In the GV80 videos the sound seems different than the current G80. It would be interesting to see if the sound can be customised or if it’s just a new sound.

Thank you. 🙂

Most definitely. Duly noted. 😁

Sixth request, haha... 😂, is it possible to show the autonomous emergency braking? In the new Sonata the warning and braking sound is different, so I wonder if it’s the same on the new G80. If you don’t wish to try this feature I completely understand as I don’t want you to get hurt or in trouble, haha.

And is it possible to check the safe exit assist feature? I’m curious whether when a car passes (when you’re in the vehicle stationary), whether the door is locked and an audible tone is activated. Some information says the door does lock to prevent you opening it as a car passes or cyclist.

There was also a video showing that the GV80 could be parallel parked with the key fob. If the G80 has this could you show it? That may also enable you to see the third brake light illuminated. Again, if you don’t wish to do any of these I completely understand.

Thank you so much for taking all our questions onboard. 🙂

No worries. It helps me develop contents for the video, so it's a win-win for both of us. As for this request, I doubt I'd be able to test it out since I'd have a Hyudai representative on a passenger seat. Can't jeopardize someone else's safety for my own needs. 🤣
