  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
No Genesis Yet!
The "Dealer's Description" says AWD, and since it also has the HTRAC emblem it "probably" is just an error in listing the car on Car Gurus. But you should verify that with the seller, because sometimes they use photos from another car and not photos of the one for sale.

A Genesis without AWD should not have an HTRAC emblem (although anyone can buy an emblem in the parts department).

I ran the VIN # on it, and it is AWD. Most of these type of websites, they can't decode a VIN properly, and that's why it shows up as RWD.

The DH Genesis is a RWD biased AWD as a tidbit of info

I believe the US HTrac models also have headlight washers?

Yup it does indeed have headlight washers, but yet no fog lights go figure.

Looking at the pics in the OP, I don't see any headlight washers, but maybe they are there and I don't recognize them.

They are there. It is the rectangular thing you see just below the outer light When activated they extend out. My 2015 had them, but the 2018 eliminated them. Not sure of in between models.

GarnetTy1473 - you mentioned 'decoding the vin' is there a chart or specific sequence that identifies a 2015/2016 genesis as AWD, V8, or trim level based on Vin sequence?

DavidHanLee - Thanks for the breakdown, I'm in Nebraska and need any additional traction i can get with our snow and terrible plows.

All - thanks for the tip on the Headlight washer, would never have guessed that this was exclusive to an AWD.

So is heated steering wheel. No matter the model, I'd pay extra for that as an option as it is one of my favorite features on a cold day. The washer has been eliminated in newer models.

Agree with EdP, the heated steering wheel is nice.

Nope. The 8th digit will tell you V6 or V8, but there is no digit in the VIN to say if it's AWD or RWD. The trim level digit is the same for all Genesis.

If the heated steering wheel and healight washers are not enough just look and see if there are axles in the front.
