  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi! I'm new here. Two week ago I purchased a 2010 Genesis 4.6 that had been sold at auction. It had been an Avis car, and judging by the previous destinations in the nav, it had spent a lot of time in the affluent northern suburbs of Chicago. It had 12K on it when I bought it, and the price would make somebody who bought one new cry.

But I can't figure out just what this car has or doesn't have! Descriptions in the manual don't always match what's in the car. For example, in the supplementary manual, the display setup shows a control that is supposed to cycle through brightness/saturation/hue/contrast, but what I've got stays on brightness and touching it or the R & L arrows does nothing. I'd really like to make the adjustments, since the display sucks under certain conditions.

More: the manual shows a ratio button on the touchscreen. No such button.
Instead of Auto Volume Control, I've got a Surround button, which isn't described in the manual. (I'd sure like auto volume control if it would deal with the HUGE loudness increase I get going from USB to XM). I'm sure there will be other differences, but I'm just learning this car. FWIW, this system has the two little rotary knobs, and no DIS. I know this car does not have the tech package. So, what is this car--a 4.6 with standard equipment for a car with that engine, or what?

Finally, who wrote the index for the basic owners manual? Can he/she be fired?

Go to the Hyundai web site and download a pdf of the manual for our car. Looking up info in the pdf is much easier. Sounds like you have the standard V8. I think the only option for the V8 in 2010 was the DIS tech package. There are also several instructional videos on youtube.

12Kon a rental and they got rid of it? Nowadays they exceed 22-25K.
Great deal 4 u! Congrats!

I believe you're right about the configuration, and thanks for the tip on the manual (it is indeed MUCH easier to search in PDF form). Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything that would tell me why my nav/audio system differs in a few respects from what is described in the supplementary manual or quickstart guide that came with the car. Hopefuly the service dealer can tell me when I take the car in for a CD/DVD problem this week.

Good idea about the manual pdf... except I think the manual are standard across the lineup - from what I remember, the one I saw (and this could be erroneous, it's been months) had features only available on the Korean market at the time (LDWS, for instance).

Regardless... give it a try: Sign up at http://www.hmaservice.com/, and under SERVICE INFORMATION, choose "OM" (Owner's Manual).

Good luck.

[EDIT] Looks like the 2011 manual is specific to Hyundai of North America, so take my previous statement with a grain of salt. ;)

Did my link work for you?

No, because I couldn't get the privacy policy link to work so that I could complete the signup process. I'm using Windows XP Pro, but even holding down CTRL while clicking the link did not work. I'll try again later.

Sorry for the bad info. It was true the '09, didn't know things changed for 2010.
I'll go back to my corner now.

Don't feel bad...when the dealer friend who was tracking down a Genny for me told me he had found a 2010 with a V8, I had a helluva time figuring out just what it had/did, because of the changes from 2009 to 2010 to 2011.

I have had the same problem for weeks. Never can access the privacy screen. I have tried Snow Leopard, Windows 7, Windows XP pro and Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer from my various computers to no avail.

Just got it. I had been trying with Chrome, so I switched to IE and it worked. Wish the world would get more Chrome-friendly--it is so much faster.

Unfortunately, a lot of developers don't bother to test with browsers other than IE - especially for banking and such.
