  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

If you purchased or leased your Genesis from a GMA authorized retailer and consider your overall dealership experience (sales and service), would you still choose Genesis if you had it to do over?

Yes, I'm on #2

Yes. Three Sonata, two Genesis. In spite of the many dealer complaints, there are some good ones.

Yes. For me it was about the car. Even though the dealership had crappy tires on it and poor balancing I didn't care. Bought the proper tires for it and she rides like a dream.

I got mine in Feb 22 and have not had it serviced yet. I will let you know when I take it in next month.

Yes, I would. I have a great dealer and love my GV80.

Good question-long answer-short reply:

Love the Genesis value

Very important to research the dealer BEFORE entering the showroom

Choose your sales person from recommendations BEFORE you go

Get everything in writing and take notes

Do not trust a Gen dealer at their word

Do not trust service Dept to not recommend unnecessary work and be smart. Probably true of many brands
I found Genesis basis for certified standards to be different between the dealership and Genesis

Genesis customer service was excellent and customer friendly throughout my battle with the dealership over what constitutes a Genesis certified car

You must be prepared to battle if you have a dealer problem

I’ll probably not return to a Genesis showroom ever. Will def buy another Genesis but only by choosing a quality dealership and have it locate a 1 year old used Genesis. Way too much poor training and as close to buyer beware status as possible.

What you wrote above is not exclusive of any brand. It applies to every brand. If you are paying out of pocket, don't be afraid to ask for the old part. I did that at my Mercedes dealer what replaced three parts when an electric fan did not work. After showing them the motor worked they too it off the bill. It was a $20 relay. Yes, I have similar stories with other brands.

No, I'd buy a Mercedes instead. Like the salesman's card says "they sell luxury, not cars". Genesis just doesn't seem to understand that. I think their vehicles appeal to a younger more "sporty" crowd (people who like carbon fiber more than open-pore wood). However, despite my desire to trade up, I can't come up with a good excuse to do so. Mechanically my GV80 2.5T Prestige has been absolutely flawless. I don't have an ELSD like a GV70 so no issues there. No wind noise. No electrical issues. And I kind of feel like the 2021 is special because it has HDA2. So guess I'm going to keep it.

You sound disappointed in a flawless vehicle. How much "luxury" does one need for a few few oil changes?

Never heard that but sounds nifty. I had a Mercedes. Won't ever buy another.
They sell luxury but f** you in the service department to pay for that luxury. .

Hope you are happy with them.

If I have to buy a vehicle again? I would go elsewhere. The only reason I bought the Genesis was for value it offered compared to others at that time. These days there are others that offer the same or better options that I am interested for at a lower price. Personally I don't care for luxury or brand. I grew up in a country where cars were not a part of the culture, so maybe that has something to do with it.

It's the stealership that ruined the experience for me. They don't even answer the phone most of the time. Concierge didn't respond to any of my voice messages. No loaner car. They sold me $2000 worth of crappy extras like Auto Butler (car wash not included). And their espresso tastes terrible.

Without a doubt.

My purchase experience, from test drives at multiple local dealerships and out of state dealerships while on vaca to out of state purchase at another dealership, was great. Lots of help, lots of making sure i was getting what i wanted, and no BS.

My service experience, 3 services so far, from one of my local dealerships has been excellent. Ive gotten a new g80, new g90 and new gv70 dropped off at my house on time and my car back with no issues. They have met me while I was out to lunch, at my house, and at my work to drop off my car once it was done.

Compared to the nightmare purchase experience i had recently with Ford, or the terrible service experiences ive had with Audi and BMW, its been one of the best dealership experiences I've had, and the car is pretty sweet as well.

It's apparent that not everyone has had the same good experiences that we have had. I'm very fortunate that there are several dealerships in the Chicago area.

It is nice to read these replies, and maybe they are the rule and not the exception. I will find out soon.

If you have the luxury of multiple dealerships, shop around for a good deal and service. Everything is Negotiable!

The dealer I got mine from is just over an hour or away, there are two others that are about 45 min and an hour away. There was one that was real close but they stopped selling Genesis. They said they could not get any cars. Yet, the same dealer still sells them at his other Hyundai location 45 minutes away. I hope this is all moot. As far as the valet service, I don't really care. I like to wait for my car now that I am retired. The Hyundai dealer I used in NJ would drive me to work and pick me up after work.

If your ducks are in line, those distances are doable. There are no stand alones in Chicago area, but my Hyundai experiences have been very good. Only recent disappointment is no Genesis brand all weather mats for AWD. Had to go with WeatherTech.

I'm on my second one though technically my first one was a Hyundai. Both were 5.0L and that's the main reason I bought it. The future is up in the air, depends on what's available. Seeing as the NA V8 luxury sedan is now extinct, I'll be keeping my 2020 G90 for a while. When it's time to upgrade, I might have to go turbo V8 which means German. If the V8 luxury sedan is completely dead by then and they're all turbo 6 then I'm going electric and the one with the longest range and best sounding stereo with 5.1 will get my money.

I figure EV's are all pretty much going to be the same.... performance and handling will be similar, same boring appliance between all brands. Audio quality will be the one thing that differentiates things for me.
