  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The report says the headlights tested were curve adaptive. Do these work mechanically?

They are automated...not like there’s a manual string you pull to point them left or right...LOL.

The headlights turn as you curve/turn.

Ha; well I meant I thought they might have additional LEDS around the corners of the lenses, but this sounds better.

Yes, they're mechanical. The actual projector is rotated by an actuator. It also adjusts for height based on vehicle load. Whenever the car is turned on in the dark, you'll see the lights do a little dance (L-R, D-U) as they check calibration.

You can turn off adaptive lighting but the auto leveling will still work.

I’ve noticed our headlights when they first come on are like your eye opening, then they do a little jig-wiggle waggle. Was not sure what the heck they were doing, but they always pointed straight when done so wasn’t overly concerned. Just hope that system makes it past the warranty period.

Is it possible to upgrade the 3.8L Premium trim headlights to the curve-adaptive headlights?
I don't know for certain, but I do know they are expensive. My car was hit and one of the lights were replaced at $1500. Your car your decision, but I'd not spend $3k to upgrade. In addition you may have to do something to the computer to make them work.

Wow - that's terrrible - not the headlight part (though that price sucks too though insurance) but the fact you got hit. Hope there wasn't too much damage

It was about $5k total. They did a good job, can't tell. I was stopped at a light and a woman was driving on the sidewalk but came back on the street to hit me head on. She left in handcuffs.

Wow that's crazy. Hopefully the only thing hurt was the Genesis and not you or any passengers.

This is interesting as it's a feature that was removed from the DH (G80/2015+ Hyundai Genesis) sedans, but present in the higher-end BH sedans (pre 2015 Hyundai Genesis). Nice to see it added back.

That's correct. I had it on my 2014 Genesis sedan (BH) but lost it on my 2016 Genesis (DH). Got it back on my 2019 G70.
