  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2022 g70 3.3t sport prestige fully loaded. However, it does not have illuminated door sill plates for the front doors. Can I buy illuminated door sill plates from the dealership and have them installed? If so, does anything special need 2 b done 2 the car ( i,e; does wire and fuses need 2 b added since the car didn’t come with illuminated door sill plates ) 2 have the illuminated door sill plates installed?

There is no wiring required, the accessory lighted scuff plates are battery powered.

Here is a link to them and the install manual.

I have a 2023 Sport Prestige as well and also was wondering about illuminated scuff plates like what came in my 2009 4.6. Being battery powered (not car battery) is a deal breaker for me and seems silly, but I guess there isn't a harness to clip into.

I installed OEM lighted sill plates in my ‘12 Genesis premium model. The car came prewired, so the installation was plug and play. It was very easy to remove the standard plates to install the new ones. I don’t see this as being a dealbreaker if there is no wiring harness. It should be a simple pry job. I used a plastic pancake flipper as my tool. Easy Peezy!

My '23 came with illuminated door sill plates (a quite expensive option at $395), and there's no way they'd be battery operated. Never heard of that, as they'd get dead sooner rather than later. Tech told me there's an empty plug under there, so apparently all G70s must be pre-wired for it. Unless somebody removes an illuminated door sill and tells us it's battery operated, I wouldn't believe it. And who would pay 400 bucks for that? Nobody. Makes no sense. Wonder who came up with that.

Have you updated your knowledge? They are certainly battery powered.

Yes, battery powered. I bought them recently for my ‘26 GV70. Easy enough to pop out and replace battery.
