  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just sat in my car briefly this morning and noticed that there is a low volume noise coming from my cd/DVD player while my car is completely off. It sounds like the discs are spinning inside the player despite everything being shut off. Does this make any sense....anyone else experiencing this? Not sure if this is a tech pkg thing or not....

Any ideas?

Possibly the hum of the radio/nav unit or the HD..
Put a disc in and then eject..see if the sound is still the there!

Could be the computer hard drive still running until car is off and key fob away for several minutes.

Engine fan ?

Thanks all. After reading these replies, my money is on a hard drive. Strange thing those is that the key was not near the car and everything had been off for 10+hrs overnight. After I got home today, same noise....it's very faint and not worrisome, but just seems odd.

Would the nav/audio hard drive run/spin all the time? Seems like that would be a battery killer after a week or two of non-usage.

Is your key fob in your pocket or in the car when you're hearing the noise?

jlindh,

Nope, fob is about 20-30ft away from the car and still I hear voices (I mean noises...)

Mine does the exact same thing.I chalked it up to being the car prepping the disc as I first enter it. Sit in the car long enough without activity and mine would usually stop.

I read the orig. post again and yes it is the hard drive and systems starting up after being off/sleep mode. My two Mercedes do the same thing as soon as the driver's door is opened. I never paid it much attention, guess I was use to it in my other cars.
