  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm in 2009 4.6L Tech - need help on shipping

Dude, you are the one who comes across as stressed out and sarcastic sans the wit. Just reading your post is an affront.
Thanks Glashub. I am a little stressed but I am sure there are other people who have done something outside their comfort zone and got stressed at least once in their life :-)

Thanks so much for your help msitter. I really appreciate it. I had called Hyundai from a toll free no on their website yesterday and based on the VIN they told me it had warranty but I will now call them again and confirm if this applies contingent on where I buying pre-owned.
msitter, I talked to Hyundai again and they confirm warranty on the vehicle and indicated it does not matter where I purchase it from, the 60mo/60K warranty applies including powertain. So hopefully that takes care of the warranty.

Dude, I own the car and you don't. We've earned the right to "affront" people like you. Either buy the car or keep your comments to yourself-- Obox has paid his dues and we will help him.

Obox,

You sound stressed out. Just sell the damn car back to the dealer and buy a motorcycle from someone on your street.

It makes me wonder why you could only find your color 1,500 miles away? Were they offering a free tank of gas? Free tire rotation for the life of your car? How do you know the car even exists? Have you ever seen it?

By the way, I have beach front property in Arizona you may be interested in-- Surfing lessons are included with purchase.
flyboy,

If this is the "help" you speak of in your prior post then I shudder to think what it must be to get on your bad side :-). But seriously, I see the sarcasm when I read your post now; I didn't initially. I truly could not find the 2009 V8 (which is what I wanted) in color combo, tech pack, miles < 20K within 1000 miles from me.

On another note, I didn't hear one person say I got a great or even good deal. So I am wondering why I thought that when I jumped on it(seemed to be based on KBB value and what else was out there.

My dealer is asking $28,900 for my '09 4.6/Tech and 16,700 miles. Would probably let it go for around $28K. CPO would add another $500.
So I'd say your deal is "good" but not great. You said $27K, right? Too lazy to go back and look..
Drive it home!

Obox, the 2009/4.6 is worth buying out of state and you did well. I also have the same car. What most members don't realize is that the 2009/4.6 is the fastest Genesis ever built. Starting in 2010 they had to dummy-down the engine because too many owners were getting tickets and endangering themselves. Ask any good looking woman and she'll tell you the 2009/4.6 is a real "man's machine" and she won't date anyone with a 2010 or later car.

PS: There might be a couple posts after this one but don't listen to the guys. They're driving the "Prius/green Genesis" and they're upset they got the slower one-- :)

Exactly!!! That's why I moved to more "horse" power!

What you posted wasn't help. But you made amends with your later post. Bottom line: you were out of line. You showed a lack of empathy for a person who is making a big decision and rather than support that person or direct that person to a solution; attempted to dazzle us with ham handed sarcasm. I don't have to own the car to be on this forum and I have a right to express my opinions about subjects that are not related to owning the car. Clear?

Sounds like you got a good deal and it is what you wanted. But the question remains, what did you decide to do to get Genny home?

Moose, the advice to check out the ebay forum was solid. Looks like I am going to get it shipped by the most recommended shipper from the ebay forums. Small company that shipping cars ebayer swear by and who has apparently shipped hundreds of cars for ebayers. My spouse will not let me go on a solo 1500 mile driving trip (it has to be solo, no option).

Update - it's been a week of waiting for the broker to find a shipper, no luck yet. I know I should have just gone there and driven it in the first place.:o was chicken.

Yeah, I think you would be sleeping better at night had you just flown to pick your Genny up in person. Although I know you mentioned the Mrs. wasn't buying you doing that. Depending on the cost, she could have gone as well. That is how I got my wife her IS. Saw the car we wanted online and drove to pick it up. Made a weekend trip out of it. Sold the old car at the Carmax next door to the dealership once they wavered on their trade-in value. Made for a nice weekend.

msitter, thanks. so the cpo's were out of manufacturer's warranty and had the cpo warranty? I only bought this car because it had 4 years remaining on Hyundai warranty. I even called Hyundai with the VIN no. and they confirmed manufactured date, in-service date, which all matched up with the carfax report. So I was not concerned as much about the car because it is under warranty, doesn't that make it at least as good or better than a cpo from a coverage perspective? I am concerned about the shipping part.

If you wanted a V6, I would have sold you mine (spotless, 15K miles) for $25,000 delivered. You would have gotten the same remaining 6yr/60K warranty.

So I think I did pretty good on the deal since I got a v8 with tech and all options offered with 16K miles for 28K shipped. Now I still have to receive it via shipping.

Car is on truck and on her way....Now I pray some more....
