  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

...in this Hyundai Genesis Ultimate 3.8. They clearly did not consider my exact needs in a car when they created this thing. I mean, not only does it not have Android Auto and it doesn't appear it can get it, but it's missing the most important feature I was looking for in a car... a car that would drive itself while I play Angry Birds Star Wars on my tablet. What the f$## were they thinking when they made this POS?!?

Instead, I'm stuck with this beautiful car with a strong engine, comfortable seats, quiet as a bird with a nice sound system and high resolution nav screen, that gets pretty good gas mileage and tells me when I'm going to hit a car going mach 2 down the left lane. And all for about $20-30k less than I could hope out of the Germans.

Damn pile of crap...

As is your post - like we needed another one on this topic???

Not sure why some don't get the disappointment that is to be expected when one buys the top of the line model and then does not get a meaningful upgrade that the lesser models receive. Is that so hard to understand? Hyundai appears to have made some VERY bad design design decisions on the Ultimate NAV system given that they knew Carplay and AA were coming! Folks need to let them know so they avoid similar issues in the future. Hiwever, if this means that the 2017 G80 will not have Carplay and AA I Ultimate trim, it's downright laughable for Hyundai - time will tell.

Relax and read the entire post....he was being sarcastic.

Lol! Listening to everyone whine about AA and ACP would almost be funny if it weren't consuming the forum discussion almost entirely. People need to put down their phones for 5 minutes and grab a life.

Lol, so true. I'm used to seeing trolls on some more of the younger forums like for cell phones, but am surprised to see one on a luxury sedan forum.

I have the 8" signature package, but feel bad for you ultimate package owners who definitely deserve it IMO. I don't think kicking you guys while you are down is the most neighborly thing to do.

Do you guys actually read the posts before firing off? The guy was mocking the very same thing you are mocking - read the entire post

I realized that. My point was why start yet another post?

The fact is that providing an AA/Carplay update that only some Genesis owners get is REALLY bad customer service. It's great for non ultimage owners and I hope they enjoy it. I also don't fully buy the hardware excuse - but, even if it's factual, it shows very bad product planning on Hyundai's part.

I am also VERY disappointed in this car. When we first got it, I vowed to myself, NO MODS! Then of course I found this thread...and seen Huddleston, Rloloya, dareckibmw, and others, and I thought...dammit, I'm going to have to break my vow. Why did you guys do this? Not only am I upset with #Sarah, our Genesis, I'm also upset with the guys that modded their cars! Why do you guys have to be different!?!?

I'm hating Hyundai for offering a V8 Genesis in the first place. We would've never entered this platform if it wasn't for that very reason. We would've probably settled with an Infiniti Q50...hahaha!

This whole AA thing...if I can't watch Captain America: Civil War on the screen after the AA release, I'm going to flip! Come on Hyundai, I thought you were a Bentley (I don't know if Bentleys can do this or not, for the price tag it should though).

Actually, you better go back and read it - he is mocking Ultimate owners being disappointed and complaining that the Ultimate is not getting the AA/Carplay update. Sorry, but the fact is that it's a legitimate gripe and folks should let Hyundai know they screwed this up!

Alright, my 2 cents, being an Ultimate owner. I too am disappointed although not devastated. For audio, I am fine with FM/XM or streaming from my phone via BT using Pandora. I use Waze too and have a magnetic mount for my phone to the left of the navigation. I use them in tandem. While a little redundant, I find this works fine.

That said, I do believe that Hyundai needs to mature their Genesis organization quickly otherwise they will continue these types of mis-steps and not reach Lexus levels to which they aspire. The LED foglights and LED DRLs are a perfect example. Why on earth would they NOT include these in ALL models? As is the lack of heated steering wheel/rear heated seats/headlight washers for anything but AWD. That makes no sense to me especially when lower model Hyundais have them.

Again, I love the vehicle but you can tell it is an evolving execution.

The other threads were getting long, and this one is slightly different in that I'm complaining about the complaining, not about the product (or lack there of).

I recognize how people feel. I just think it's a bit harsh to say you wish you never bought the car or you're never buying another one again. I just wanted a dry, humorous way of saying, "I like my car, even though it's not exactly what I wish it were." Remember the alternatives, and (for most people probably) you will remember why you bought the car in the first place.

I agree with that - but still a mess of Hyundai's own creation that they need to be called out on!

Exactly - but folks need to let Hyundai know they are unhappy with this situation. I don't expect a solution, but want to let them know they screwed up!

No, it's about this!!!

Put down the phone and grab a life as Jaeger said. Or better yet, put down the phone, tune in your faviorite station or instert your favorite CD and just DRIVE!

From all the whining on the other thread, and now this, I think you guys just need to get rid of your phone all together. Phones are for talking, cars are for driving. :D

I lasted over 35 years of driving with out AA or ACP, so I don't need it now.

Spoken like a true luddite - phones are not just for talking anymore...

Drive. What a novel concept. I think people should take the time to let Hyundai know that they made a great CAR and that those who care about the CAR aren't crying in their pillows over a couple of freaking apps.

It really is priceless, all this righteous indignation from people who bought the car knowing full well that it didn't have the very thing - apparently the ONLY thing - that would make them happy. And of course, that's Hyundai's fault. Mess? What mess? Gimmeabreakalready.

About time somebody did that. Predictably, others are now complaining about you complaining about their complaining. :D

Couldn't disagree more. It's actually EXCELLENT customer service. They went back and provided an update for a car that is 2 years old when they had no requirements to do so. ZERO.

This wasn't listed as a feature when you bought the car. It's a BONUS that they provided it at all to any of us. They didn't have to go back to all these cars and update (not just the Genesis, but the others they added as well).

Do you work in IT? I do. We don't plan our systems around technology that we don't know is even going to be around in 5 years (or even 1 year). Whether you believe their excuse or not, it's probably valid.

The reason more companies don't do awesome stuff like this is because you always have the criers out there getting pissed at bonus not being enough for them. You have the ultimate... bigger screen, better system, more features and DIS. Lord forbid you don't get this too. Be happy with the car you bought that you loved when you bought it. I swear people feel way too entitled now-a-days. You don't deserve anything but what they promised when they sold you the car. How about seeing how awesome it is for car company to update back catalog model years with new technology when they have the ability?

My buddy bought a fully loaded 2016 Ford Explorer. It has Ford Sync 2 when Ford Sync 3 is now out on lesser cars. He knew that going in. He doesn't expect a hardware or software upgrade outside what he purchased.

My other friend just got a 2016 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. It has an incredibly weak ass electronics package inside it. He knew it going in. He doesn't have expectations that when they revamp of the Tundra comes out in 2017, that he will get a new car for free. Or new software. Or new tires.

I love you guys :grouphug:

I just wish you all weren't so hard on everything and everybody. This is a good company that went above and beyond, but was bound to not make everyone 100% happy. Let's show some respect... and enjoy our awesome cars.

Well then maybe YOU should have bought another car. Maybe a google car than can drive you around.

Cars are for DRIVING! If you think any different, then you have no idea what DRIVING is about.

And sorry, but I am definatlly not a luddite, as you suggest. You have no idea what I do for a living. Lets just say it's some of the most advanced technology in the world. Some being one off's. ;)
