  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My uncle has many health issues and doc said he doesn't have much years left to live. He worked his butt off his whole life and we would like him to have the most comfortable remaining life that he has. His final wish is to travel all over the US by car. Many of us are trying to pool our money together and want to buy him a new luxury car. He test drove the following: Mercedes-Benz E350, Hyundai Equus Signature, and Lexus LS460. He doesn't care about brand names and after the test drives, he said, "I like the Acous(sic); most comfortable."

Very important question: quality quality quality. He and my aunt are going to rack up A LOT of miles and it's imperative the quality has to be top notch. Can you all tell me how many miles you have on your Equus and what annoying problems you guys are having? I tried to do research but nothing is listed on Consumer Reports due to low sales.

If I'm satisfied with the answers, we are going to pick up a black Equus next Monday.

Thank you.

I don't have enough miles on mine (8000 problem-free) to answer your question directly but the Equus has been sold in Korea for a number of years so it's not like you will be buying a "first year" car from which the bugs have not be shaken out.

You might also want to check into the details of the Equus service arrangement where the dealer will pick up, service and return your car while providing a loaner. Not sure how this would work on your cross country trip where you would be away from the selling dealer.

I have only had mine six months with just under 2,000 miles. No problems so far. Just had the dealer come pick it up a couple of days ago and give me a Genesis loaner while they did the first oil change.

I had a Genesis for more than 4 years and it was the most reliable car I have ever had. I anticipate the Equus will be equally reliable. It is definitely the most comfortable car I have ever had.

My 2012 Ultimate is now one year old with 16,000 miles. It has had routine service twice.

Absolutely no mechanical or electrical issues. The paint looks brand new. No interior cosmetic problems with the leather seating, although some wear is apparent, consistent with its age.

My female colleagues fight to see who gets in the right rear seat (with massage and vibration).

My favorite feature on long-haul driving is the cruise control with adaptive radar that maintains a proper distance and automatically brakes when needed.

My only complaint is paint chipping from the plastic door sills as my heel scrapes across when exiting the vehicle.

We bought it. Thank you guys for the help. They are really enjoying it.
