  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well, my Genny 4.6 now has 17k miles, and i noticed an improvement in the MPG.
For example, last year, I drove to Las Vegas and back, round trip about 500 miles, and got 27 MPG.
Just made the same trip, and it read 28.5 MPG.

Recently, I used a loaner Sonata with the 2.4 L motor. During 5 days of commuting to and from work, I averaged 25.5 MPG.
Now that I got my Genesis back, doing the same commute, I'm getting 24.5 MPG.

I think my Tau 4.6 has finally broken in, and I am damn impressed by how efficient this engine is!
Especially considering that it doesn't have direct injection, 8 speeds, start/stop, or cylinder deactivation.

Have other V8 owners noticed improvement in gas mileage after 15k miles?

Recent trip from Central Florida to Asheville N.C. area, about 1260 mile round trip. Averaged about 26 mpg.:o

very nice.

considering that these regular gas 4 cylinder midsize cars don't save that much gas, i don't think we should feel very guilty about driving our V8s.

I got 29.5MPG yesterday for a little trip of about 200miles

The 4.6 don't have direct injection ?? I was sure the 4.6 have it

I also noticed an improvement, somewhere around 22,000 miles. I was getting between 21 and 22 (mostly city with a little highway) and now I'm getting between 23 and 24.
