  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is there anywhere on the forum some reference to indie shops?
If there is, PLEASE direct me.

If not, maybe we should add it as a sticky for people to post in various locations, great and good such shops.
I come from the Mercedes world and the indies industry is huge!!! There's a guy who comes from Holland to do work here, nationwide. In fact, there are some indies which are MUCH better than the stealers, let alone cheaper... Furthermore, in most cases the can and will do things, determined by dealerships as "impossible".

I went to 3 dealerships, here in Southern California, and they all take appointment to...next week... Crazy! I'm a newbie on the Genesis and am looking for indies in SoCal.

Thanks!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Indies for Genesis are likely going to be hard to come by as not many of them have been sold. From 2008 to 2016 Hyundai has sold less than 160,000 total units in the USA. Last year alone MB sold 380,000 units and 123,000 CPO's while Audi sold 210,000 units.
I too came from the Mercedes and VW/Audi world where there are lots of indies with as much knowledge as the dealers.
No offence to the forum members here but as opposed to the Mercedes, Audi and VW forums there is very little expertise available as well.
I am considering myself as an early adopter and with a few exceptions, basically on my own for solutions. I have amassed service manuals and have read voraciously to acquaint myself with the idiosyncrasies of the brand and can at least talk intelligently with service personnel about anything I need to do. If you need service manuals for your car hit me up and I will forward to you.
On a positive note if any indies were to pop up they would likely be in SoCal as the population and sales base is right there.

Hi doufmpc. Naturally my fingers ran to the search and the first page I got shows ENORMOUS figures...: http://carsalesbase.com/us-car-sales-data/hyundai/.
I think I downloaded a 2009 Genesis, Release 2, Workshop manuals & Electrical troubleshooting. If you have anything newer, I'd love to have it!
My feeling, visiting 2 dealerships, they did NOT care about my problems; all they talked about was how many thousands it'll cost, in addition to the $129 "diagnosis fee"...
Do you know if Hyundai has something like the DAS? Is it available for purchase?

Talking about the MB, I do miss the comfort of seats (the massage too), the smoothness of ride (air struts), the space in the rear seats, and that fantastic torque (391 @ 2800)... On the other hand, our genesis is 861cc smaller, and gets the same HP...!!!

I believe you have a 2011 4.6 with the Tech package, if so I have the service manual for that specific car. If that is true, let me know and I will email it to you.

The DAS and the other systems like VCDS for VW/Audi from Ross-Tech don't seem to be readily available but I have seen the GDS VCI for HYUNDAI Code Diagnostic available on eBay for about $150 which may do the same thing. The link for that is http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-GDS-VCI...U-pXsmq2&item=222220720305&vxp=mtr&rmvSB=true Finding someone who knows anything about these is like hen's teeth although I did find that there are tons of similarities with Hyundai/Kia and there are people on another Hyundai forum that seem to have more experience and actually repair them for a living.
